At the back end the Adelaide qantas lounge, there is a small door which leads to a business and platinum access area which I assume is a more premium area. I fly business class from time to time and have neer thought to venture in there.
Is that area only for platinum FF or club members or does it apply for anyone flying business class domestic as well?

Also, I am about to qualify for gold membership for this year, and was wondering what other benefits may apply for that - From what I have read, there is really not that much, except for increases in FF points when flying.

My other question is: Is there a Lounge in Alice Springs and what is it like? Cheers!

You can access the Domestic Business lounge if you are flying Business but aren't Platinum - we did so in SYD a few weeks ago.

Other benefits of Gold would include better chances for points upgrades / Op-ups coming through, complimentary Qantas club membership and the like, and access to international OneWorld Business class lounges when travelling on OnerWorld airlines.

There is a lounge in ASP:

Hoping to visit it myself next month! :)

Nice - gotta look into it! I have flown business class and never knew about the other lounge. I'm sure its just a little quieter and not really that much better.

Although I have to say - I just loved the Krisflyer lounge in Singapore recently - it really made me realise what we've all been missing! Their food and drinks service is amazingly better.

But we'll see I guess...

Will see what the alice springs lounge in like either august 4th or 2 weeks later. Will let you know!

Gee I've never noticed. I know about the CL lounge at the front (not that I have even been).

Where exactly is this door that you speak of? I will have a look on Tuesday.

I was trying to figure out where this door was as well. I haven't seen anything at the back that would suggest there is anything more down there.

I too have only noticed the CL entry at the front.

I asked about a J lounge in June when flying business. I was told that there is no such thing. Are you talking about the desk at the end of the food service area. I haven't paid much attention but I only ever recall seeing staff using that door with either food or the clean up trolley

OoooH., now you are making me think. I'm quite sure there was a sign saying business or platinum only. Its a little room at the back near the food counter. I might be wrong, but I am going business class next weekend so I will have a look.

Sorry to lead you all down the garden path if I'm wrong, but I was sure I saw a sign for business and platinum customers only...

Is anyone flying before next weekend?

I would not get too excited about the chance to visit the Qantas lounge in ASP.

The first time I went there, I had a long stopover on a MEL/ASP/DRW flight, I got off the plane, I don't remember what hit me first, the opressive heat or the flys.. I then drove to the Reptile Centre, looked around then went back to the airconditioned luxury of the ASP QP...

You are right JK, there's not much there, but if outside its 40+, you've had enough of the flys and you need a cold drink- the QP will be a Godsend...

Mr!

Care to elaborate? In size or facilities? As Mr! said, can you still get a drink / food / seat in air conditioning? :)

It is a smallish room, you need to fight for the limited number of seats available, wait for your turn to read the newspaper or magazine and if you are lucky there may be something to snack on as well. Apart from that it is exactly the same as munitalP described.

I was in ADL a couple of months ago and don't recall seeing a J lounge there.. I thought there was only a lounge in MEL SYD and BNE.

As for ASP, i was there a couple of years ago, nothing fancy, but i had the whole lounge to myself for an hour or so. plus the grog was all self service... That made it enjoyable!!!

If you want a small QP, the one in Kalgoorlie is tiny! 6 people and it is crowded!!!

Are you sure your not talking about the mobile phone free zone?

The ADL QC is so chilled at the best of times, compared to the overcrowed MEL and SYD, so I can't see why they would need a seperate business/first lounge.
