Interesting bit about Sydney Airports draft Master Plan from Sydney airport plan has its doubters

AN EXPERT report is set to cast doubt on claims by debt-laden Sydney Airport that it can handle a more than doubling of passengers to 79 million a year over the next 20 years. Such doubt will bolster the case for speeding up plans for a second airport for the city.

Oh no, not the second airport saga again!

They'd get 1/3 more traffic through if the lost the curfew:shock:

It is refreshing to know that there is actually a plan. The way they carry on, one could be forgiven for thinking that the only plan was to grab as much cash as possible as quickly as possible and then keep on doing so.

And until they find the right solution the saga, debate, will continue.

That is a little unfair and shows no consideration at all for the people living under flight paths that have been created in the last 10-15 years. It is bad enough being woken before 6:00am by the big jumbos descending onto Mascot airport without having aircraft taking off and landing through the night.

Build a second airport at Badgery's Creek, Richmond, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Goulburn etc and put the right infrastructure in place to make the solution work.

Wow John what a great solution ;):p

Would you mind coming and teaching our Labor government how to tie their shoelaces first?? They can't even build simple rail lines without getting it wrong!

Why don't aircraft take off and land over Botany Bay after hours? That seems like it would put no residents under a direct flight path and significantly limit the aircraft noise, but certainly result in fewer possible movements.

On the other hand, one thing I like about the curfew is that available flights are almost always at convenient times. You can't be shunted onto a midnight departure by schedule changes because that is just not allowed.

That is a good suggestion although if flights after hours will take off and land over Botany Bay then why can't all flights take off and land over Botany Bay? Then we would not have an issue with the SYD airport curfew.

I get passionate about the SYD airport curfew because my parents' house, and I live there, and the investment properties I own would be under the flight path 24 hours a day. I would not want to see my retirement fund halved just so a few spoilt people, who do not even live in the area, can have flights take off and land 24 hours a day. Perhaps I am selfish but I would love to see things remain as they are now....
