We're looking at a family trip to Vietnam and the options on the QF site seem to be:

- Book with Jetstar
- Book with Qantas on the same flight but with a QF number

As far as I can tell the only difference is that we will earn points and SC, but not too bothered about that. Does anyone know if we get food / beverages included on the QF booking or will we still need to pay for them?

This has been discussed before in this thread: Accepting a Jetstar flight as replacement for qantas, where somebody reported that despite being booked on a QF codeshare they received no extra benefits.

The issue is per that table QF5571 is an "Australia Domestic" and has no extra product offerings over normal Jetstar. Of course this doesn't really make sense since it's not a domestic flight, but 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, you would earn points and SC with Jetstar anyway when booking one of the bundles, and the Max bundle is a cheap way to Flex Economy points earn.

Unless Qantas codeshare is cheaper for some reason (but I've only ever seen that reported once or twice), I would personally book with JQ directly.

Rather than start a new thread… I found award availability on Qantas from SYD to SIN which was made available under the recent ‘apology’ release… but using multi city will not allow me to add a jetstar asia SIN-SGN (or anywhere else in Vietnam). The error message says ‘hochiminh is not available as an award, you must select points plus cash’.

The flights are available as award in their own right is searching to/from SGN.

Thoughts?

I had this same problem - to add insult to injury the amount charged to my flight credit was significantly more than the fare on Jetstar (plus checked bag), but I got none of the extra perks if I had paid that same amount to Jetstar (seat assignment, meal, flex economy points, etc). The only inclusion applied was checked baggage (forget how much but I had just one checked bag). In addition I couldn't modify my booking using Jetstar's web site (although at least it does load with the Qantas booking ref).
