Hotel near LA Convention Centre

I may be off to a conference in LA at the convention centre. What hotels around the general area would people recommend?

Interesting that there has not been a response in this thread! Looks like you would have to go with your best insticts Mark and hope for the best.

I am sure you Googling skills are better than mine but the Holiday Inn could be your best bet. What better way to earn PC points than your employer paying the hotel bill.

Apologies for not responding earlier. The convention center is east of the strip, the Hilton is right next door. I've been their for CES in the past. There is also a monorail station at the convention center, so any of the major hotels on the east of the strip would be suitable (such as Ballys, Paris, Venetian, MGM Grand, Sahara etc) although not as convienient as the Hilton.

In terms of recommendations, I have stayed at the Hilton, the MGM Grand, Ballys and the Rio in the past - to me, if you've seen one LAS casino, you've seen them all - particularly when you are talking about the run of the mill rooms. I would however avoid the old wing of the MGM Grand - tiny rooms with no Internet access...
