In the last two weeks I have had to contact Qantas on three occasions regarding separate issues with an upcoming return trip to NZ. The calls were 6 to 7 days apart and made between 0800 and 1000 AEST. After the standard pre-recorded prompts and messages I was , on each occasion , connected to a CSA (coincidently all in CPT) just after the first "ring" ! All calls were handled with clarity and in a timely manner and resolved to my satisfaction in less than ten minutes. Should I buy a Lotto ticket ?

Gold......... but previously experienced unacceptable delays from the various call centers. I've got to the point where I will not "hold" for anymore than 15 minutes and accept their "call back" service which seems to work well.

Yes. From all the reports I'm reading, a satisfactory outcome is increasingly rare.

I had to call Friday last week about a reward flight they cancelled twice and subsequently moved me onto a new one that didnt suit - I called around noon and got through as per the OP.

SG, I got the flight I wanted after about 5 minutes on hold, while the request was being approved by a manager.

I was worried about loosing it all together as people have been experiencing, and mentioned I didnt want the original one cancelled until the new one was confirmed - doubt my request made any difference but it made me feel better....
