If you do a heap of domestic deep discount economy flights on short routes with a *A carrier then the lounge access is a godsend. But since there is no domestic *A airline in Australia, that's not a situation many of us are going to find ourselves in. Our *A flights are likely to be occasional long-haul trips that may well be in premium cabins that bring lounge access anyway.
Thanks for the detailed response .

Though Elite Gold allows you and a guest into Virgin Lounges in Australia if flying on Virgin Australia.

Did the transfer for my favourite eldest son after opening his first ever account with Singapore Air. He now has QF, AA, Kris and Virgin opportunities to fly somewhere.
Starting at Kris Gold with the miles bonus was attractive.

Does anyone know if krisflyer / star alliance gold gets you excess baggage allowance on Air india ( star alliance ) for a domestic Indian flight .
Called the call centre they said there is no additional allowance . She may be misinformed .
Is there any way to have this enforced with them ? TIA .

Your best bet is to have the rules printed out (or on screen) to read to the agent. If it is an Indian call centre then you may get a better result by proactively asking for the allowance with reference to the rules rather than try to get a refusal overturned - you need to avoid any situation that could cause loss of face.

I have flown domestic in India three times - Air India, Jet Blue and Spice Jet. They were all much of a muchness - just like a domestic flight in the UK or Australia.

I can't say i've ever seen cough streaks in the toilet 10min after take off (had to change baby)
or had bathroom taps not working to wash hands anywhere else.

and this was actually a short international flight (4.5hr from delhi)

Their website states that their gold status members are accorded 20 extra kg allowance on star flights- so one would expect that other star alliance airline gold elite members are accorded same privilege on air India ?
Any thoughts ?

I am due to fly tommorow morning from BKK Singapore with TG in the morning and later that eve with SQ to BOM both krisflyer redemptions but 2 separate bookings .
Does anyone know if TG and SQ currently interline ? Ie can I check my bags all the way through to BOM in BKK ?
If not will I have to clear immigration in Singapore , collect my bags and recheck in ?is that even possible without prior arrangements ?
I am travelling on an aus passport and have my negative pcr and international Covid vaccination etc .
Thanks in advance.
