Why didn't this happen last year when we were renovating the house?! We went to Bunnings nearly everyday and sometimes twice per day to 2 different stores....hate to think how many FB points we could have got!

Positive news, didn't expect this when Bunnings doesn't need to try hard to attract customers, with Masters and Hardwarehouse distant memories...

Best to let go of regrets of points that never were, and look forward to points that will be :)

Explains another survey I did previously about subscription models for a group of Wesfarmers stores.

I must admit i ponder what is in this for Bunnings - they own the market. Unless FB will send/sell them customer data as part of the contractual arrangement (almost certainly) and they see an opportunity to increase sales/profit by more than the cost of the fb points earned by their existing customers.

Officeworks i also understand - discretionary consumer the target and offering FB may drive sales there instead of alternatives (of which there are many small local eg. Newsagents and the like, OfficeMax, online retailers). On face value makes more sense than for Bunnings.

Shame, just spent about $1K at both stores in the last week. Couldn't of held off regardless.

Anyway expect delays and missing points as usual with Flybuys...

When I first read this, I was like this....

Yeah Bunnings dominate the market by a big margin, which sort of makes me wonder why the likes of Miter 10 don't have an in-store partnership with QFF or VFF to earn points. Some sort of insentive to shop there over Bunnings apart from the obvous which would be to lower prices.

The benefit for Bunnings would be from a data side of things which helps with their marketing and product lineup.

Yeah, if it's mutually exclusive to powerpass and aimed about consumers (with no trade discount) then it's probably to improve the various metrics and possibly support cross-selling to other Wesfarmers chains too.

Officeworks are a big box competitor to everyone from JB hi-fi to big W to IKEA to art supply stores, and have been heading down the home brand direction, which has to be pumping margins. So I would expect generic spend X targets there. Could be of particular interest if they get good gift card promos.

Provides another option to raise revenue as well; I imagine most "bonus 500 points for buying X new product" are at least partially supplier funded.

We have spent and spent a lot of $$$ at both Bunnings and Officeworks in the last 3 months :( And, still on a spending spree at Bunnings in the foreseeable future, so will delay it until December after Bunnings is officially part of Flybuys.

A bit of extra effort but you can buy Bunnings GCs at Coles (even better with an Amex Platinum Edge or DJ Plat Amex) and you can keep your home improvements on track while still getting Flybuys

Yes all my Bunnings shop apart from online has been on GCs for years.

Buying Bunnings GC at Coles as you have indicated via my Amex earning at the higher 50% Supermarket Rate. So 50% more Amex MR points than direct at Bunnings.

Add in the Flybuys, which can from time to time be bought with extra promo points.

So I will continue to buy my Bunnings GCs at Coles, unless there is a Flybuys Promo at Bunnings which tips the overall points earn their way.
