Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Hopefully Victoria will follow suit once they hit 80% double vaxxed. When you’re getting 2000 cases a day, it just doesn’t seem proportionate to lock people up from overseas especially if vaccinated and testing negative before departure and again on arrival.

I am very sure Victoria would do the same because:

- NSW has set a precedent, with fewer active cases than VIC;
- Everyone in VIC is sick of lockdowns etc
- If NSW has done something, VIC has to do better due to state rivalry
- Dom has just said that Sydney is the only truly international city in Australia in the press conference this morning. Dan won't like it.

Wonder what this means for the Australian Open? Dan will surely sign up to fix the AO. Doesn't help with Djokovic tho who is an antivaxer.

Will have implications for things such as the Ashes too.

Aside from when I got to be in Perth with the family over Christmas, I don't think I have felt this happy since March 2020.

NSW open for business. VIC will have no choice but to follow.

If I ever meet Dominic Perottet I will be buying him a drink and saying thank you for leading in giving us our lives back. Gladys too.

He is my local MP. I will go to his local office and say thank to him sometime soon!

Doesn't Melbourne still have a curfew?

We're currently on track for 80% double dose on 1/11, on the 7 day average

But opening has to be after you hit 80% not on day you hit 80%, so wont be Nov 1.

And Vic government have a history of being slower to release restrictions, so not a safe bet that Vic will be open to international arrivals quarantine free on Nov 1. ACT should be though.

Not on Nov 1 they wont, unless vaccination rate suddenly accelerate they wont be at 80% fully vaxed before November 1.

Definitely not Nov 1, but won't be further behind after VIC get 80% double vaccinated.

Doesn't Melbourne still have a curfew?

Do they? Does Melbourne even still have a lockdown? In name only I think. Also Regional Victoria is now being guarded by a ring of tissue paper.

I think Victoria's just waiting for the rules to catch up with the reality on the ground.

Doesn't Melbourne still have a curfew?
I think we do, 9pm to 5am, also 15km distance from home a no go zone.

Not sure cos apart from masks which are used just about by everyone, there's lot of visiting going on, a lot, unless many have new cars in their driveways & new family members!

We're def in lockdown lite mode, few weeks to go.

Happy for my sydney family & mates to be given some freedom.

Good on Gladys & Dom. Paving the way forward.

Of which there are many in Vic.

However, why should a Melbournian be allowed to enter Regional NSW when their vax rate is much lower than Greater Sydney, whereas a Greater Sydney resident can not - some loopholes to be closed there one would suggest before 1 Nov.
Agreed but you stated that only NSW residents could enter from Victoria and that isn’t the the case
Anyone can.
People at a close contact venue can’t leave their house for 14 days.

Just waiting for Air NZ to release seats now...

Was there any detail on how exactly they want to check the double vaccination? I've heard that even quite an issue in Europe when you want to fly outside of the EU member states as every country and region has a different system of 'vaccination cards', QR codes and so on. Here in NZ, I only have a lovely looking card which states the dates and batches of the Pfizer vaccine.
