Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Interesting report on the current situation in Singapore.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sydney found itself in a similar situation come December... Will be interesting to see what happens then.
Not just Sydney, but Melbourne too with their daily case numbers closing in on Sydney's. But it is possible that the impact might be quite different given the differences between SYD and SIN considering how much more spread-out we are, less crowded domiciles etc. I doubt any two cities or countries will be all that similar until we are much further down the track, more like late 2022 when how we live with covid becomes a bit more embedded.

So Victoria's case numbers on a population basis is now higher than NSW.
March 2021 populations. Victoria 6648600. NSW 8176400. From the ABS figures.
So Victoria is at 81'3% of NSW's population.
81.3% of 1007 is 819.

And population adjusted testing numbers are approximately 25% lower

Some people in some states are very simple minded people, who consider a holiday down the beach an hour from their home as their preferred annual holidays. Talk of airplanes and oversea's just confuses them as to why anyone would want to leave their local area. State Premiers have to come from somewhere.

I can't think of anything more mundane than the above. The world is there to explore.

Princess Fiona - I see we are at #29346 posts.
Would be interesting to see how this graph to 30000 compares since onset (posts per day/month) and if the serial bell curves of the virus followed.
Apologies if this appears flippant - lots of time in lockdown to waste!

From my observation interest in this thread peaked once NSW started going down.

It's mostly the protests thread now.

NSW has for now.
Yes it will probably go above this when we open up fully, but by then I don't think anyone will be focusing on the case number.

Then it’s not a peak… is my point 😂 because cases will absolutely go higher than the current NSW record. It’s just a matter of time. Watch what happens post Freedom Day.

We are gradually getting there, weaning people off the case number drug, which LGA, state is highest, lowest etc etc

I hope this isn't the ca

I hope this isn't the case. To be honest, I rely on this thread to keep me up to date on what's happening in the Australian Covid world. For eighteen months it's been an infallible source of information and entertaining comment. If and when the current madness ends hopefully this thread will be preserved for posterity. Rich material for some PhD student in the future!

Meh I’d rather it be permanently deleted once we are all (mostly) vaccinated and have better things to argue about like which business suite on the QF A380 is the most private 😂

Might be a pointless argument as I doubt we will see them again!
