Well, they can if they are creative

GP channel only, given most cancellations were state hubs most would be looking to rebook a mass vax location.

If the news is wrong and mass AZ cancellations are not due to switch to mrna (highly unlikely), then Victoria has a much bigger problem.

If we look at doses actually being given rather than looking at bookings not made in an ever expanding system (which will hopefully keep expanding as supply is meant to really ramp up in at first Sept, and then again in October):

So the State Hub Data is now out in Vic (Commonwealth Channel will be after lunch) for yesterday Monday.

So doses made at Vic State Hubs were:
  • Monday 24th Aug; 29,810 doses - which is a new record high for a Monday at State Hubs
  • Monday 17th Aug; 25,742 doses
  • Monday 10th Aug, 22,670 doses
  • Monday 3rd August 16,591 doses
  • Monday 27th Sept: 15,677 doses

Yesterday (Sunday) also set a new record high for a Sunday.

There was a big piece on it on ABC radio with people from all across Sydney, Melbourne and shock horror even Brisbane calling in and saying they were booking 2-3 appointments as back ups and then just not turning up or cancelling they ones that were least convenient to them. I mean why drive to a mass hub 10km away and queue with people when you can walk to the local pharmac_…

Now I’m not advocating people do that but I understand why they are… hopefully this declines as supply becomes more reliable and is communicated as such.

Politics. In today in SA we've heard of several thousand cancellations. Don't know why other than I know my cancellation is in that number and not because I didn't get vaccinated. So the opposition Health person has jumped on that number and said the vaccinations have been thrown away. Quite simply, they haven't been dumped. The clinics operate on a strict 'just in time' approach but let's not get facts in the way of a two minute grab.

Some interesting survey data on using incentives to pick off the hesitant.

Restrictions on the Unvaxxed is a no brainer and paying people $500 seems cheap to me, might as well throw the kitchen sink at it. You’d make back the $12.5 billion in enhanced economic activity in no time.

One paragraph beyond the headline states

But the findings, contained in a new research paper from Community and Patient Preference Research (Cappre), also show the use of social restrictions for the unvaccinated – such as the inability to travel or attend major events – would be enough for many to change their minds without any need for financial incentives.

People need to chill out and just look at the total number.

People are switching channels etc moving things around.

If there is a significant drop in the total numbers jabbed then it’s probably just people erroneously ‘deciding to wait’ again which will cost them and us all time.

They should be advertising for walk ins if there is a % cancelation rate.

Walk ins are currently up for discussion as of yesterday given that SA opened up for all weeks ago. And I reckon school visits for years 11 and 12 onsite. With parental consents etc etc.

There is an opportunity cost, SA might not be there yet, but soon will, in that supply isn’t the limiting factor, it’s the slot at the GP / Hub which are finite. Even if the vaccine itself is not wasted, it will delay the vaccine rollout and that has other effects especially in states with active outbreaks.

They really shouldn't need to be creative.
No argument from me but if needs must!

Hey, Qantas is the gold standard in web design. I can't even get my digital certificate to load up today to claim the vaccination reward. Computer says No. Just like the eligibility checker for Covid.

SMH Front Page talks about the linking of vaccination targets to staggered reopening of schools.
I think this might motivate parents trying to WFH with their kids also learning from home. Most I know in this situation would do anything to get the kids safely back to school.

Note this is via State Hubs, and so is on what doses the Commonwealth has agreed to now deliver to be dosed via the State Hub Channel..

This is in part as the 175,000 Pfizer from the Polish acquisition now has a scheduled arrival time. Note the new bookings is based on the Pfizer that will now be arriving and is consistent with past practice that as new doses get confirmed arrival times, that booking slots get opened up.

No updates as to what the Commonwealth is also doing with vaccinations via GP's and Pharmacies in Vic has been advised today.

Interesting to note that NSW regional rollout is having some walk in vaccination days in certain towns.

Best example was - Gilgandra 22.5% first dose to 51% first dose in under a week.

Lot of our mob at work are spreading the news with excitement that there eligible for pfizer from tomorrow.

Yet sharing screen shots of the website down already. ha as expected!!

Good - I also love how they did it with no notice, bang all the dawdling people you now have an extra 1.2 million people to fight to get an appointment for. It’s exactly the momentum we need - a vaccine hunger games!

Exactly & a couple of my mates in 40's said they'll wait till the masses getting it done before they do.....hmm cos I don't want to push argue with someone getting the jab so Ieft that comment it alone, yet I have no idea as you say, now a booking fight with so many more to get a time.

maybe just hesitancy, whatev's, NFI.
