In November (yes, I know... some time away; but I like to be organised!) I will be doing PER-MEL-SIN-FRA then LHR-SIN-PER.

My PER-MEL connection is 2.5 hours, so should be fine. Am I correct to assume that when I check in at PER, I cannot use my priority checkin by going to the QP queue, but instead would need to goto the International Transfers checkin desk? (As per website Fly - At the Airport - Airport Guide - Perth Domestic Airport - which states "Domestic to International check-in available at counters 16 and 17."). I wonder how long the line might be.... Would my bags be checked through all the way to FRA or would I need to collect in MEL and then drop them off at the QF checkin?

When I arrive in Melbourne, I assume I should already have my boarding pass and can simply walk over to T2, go through passport control and head over to the Business Lounge (I am a QP member).

Am I then likely to need to get *another* boarding pass in SIN for my SIN-FRA, or would I get this also in PER (or MEL)?

On my trip home, I have a 1 hour transit in SIN (LHR-SIN-PER). Am I likely to get both boarding passes in LHR, and when I get to SIN is there anywhere special I'd need to go; or should it have the gate etc. all on my boarding pass? I booked this all on 1 ticket, so 1 hour was fine for MCT. If my inbound is delayed, are they likely to hold the plane for me or would I get put on the next flight (which is some hours later).

There was something else I meant to ask but can't think of what it is right now.....

Yes, that is generally the case now. If you have an international connection, then use the international connection check-in desk.

Really depends on the number of people checking in with international connections at that time. Bags should be checked through to FRA if MEL and SIN are transit connections and all with Qantas or their interlining partners.

At check-in in PER you should also be handed an Australian Departures Card to fill in. If not, then collect one from the counters near the outbound immigration processing area at MEL and fill it in before proceeding to the counter. No need to stop by any Qantas desk at MEL, just straight through to immigration control, then security then to the lounge. Note that MEL often has an airport person just through the sliding doors of no return (leading to immigration processing) weighing carry-on bags. So be prepared.

If its a Qantas flight SIN-FRA you should be given that boarding pass in PER also. If not, collect it at the SIN Qantas Club lonuge, which is generally quicker than lining up at the transfer desk in SIN ... and closer to the bar as well ;).

Again you should get both boarding passes in LHR. Gates are displays on the monitors all over the terminal. All Qantas flights operate from the same wing of the terminal so won't be too far away. You may even have time for a quick visit to the Qantas Club.

Excellent, that confirms everything I thought. Flying on QF for all legs, so should get all the boarding passes at the start of the journey. I'm hoping for a quick shower in SIN before I make my way to PER, but given I'm in 80K (1 of the 2 best economy seats on the A388 ) it might not work as there will be ~400 people to get off the plane before I do! But I'll see how I go

And 350 of them rushing to the Qantas Club lounge for a shower before their connection .

Hopefully not too many of those rushing to get onto the PER flight that is scheduled for 1 hour after landing

I've pondered telling the FA's of my tight connection, sometimes they'll let you wait up near the front of the plane!

1 hour is not a tight connection in SIN

Agreed. No arrivals formalities or security, so just straight to the lounge. But may be too late for duty-free shopping that required delivery to the gate as they generally close that off about an hour before scheduled departure.

Just allow a little time to go through security screening at the departure gate. But they queue there normally dies off as boarding commences.

Do I have to be there 40 minutes before scheduled departure, as I had to with JQi recently?

Boarding starts at around 30 mins before departure; all the QF/BA flights depart from the C concourse so doing a connection there is on par (time wise) as connecting between domestic flights in Australia other than having to pass through security checkpoint at the gate
