I just retruned my 6 pack of the 2006 Reschke Bos, The bottle was well past it's best/declining and tasted more like port than Cabernet. May have been a bad bottle but didnt want to risk opening another so returned it.
I had the same experience. Would return it, but split it with friends and haven't haven't heard their review.
Cork seemed fine in mine, but you never know

Just tried my 1st bottle of Bos16 today. Same opinion with Warlock too. Shame that I like Reschke quite a lot from past experience.

I assume you meant 2006? Had a bottle about 2 weeks ago and thought it was just fine. I let it air for couple of hours and it only got better after that. Suppose it could be a matter of taste, I thought it is at near or its peak and maybe for a couple of more years before it starts it’s inevitable demise.

The bottle variation that we’ve all been experiencing is exactly why Reshke hawked this wine to VM. It’s also why VM were letting it go for less than $15 a bottle. I suspect many bottles are drinking okay still and some will be past their best. The cork closure factor combined with the age of the wine has introduced this variation. Some of the corks have done a better job than others of preserving what’s in the bottle.

Fair enough, I only tried one bottle, so who knows what the rest are like. Given such variations, I am tossing now whether to return it as I have 5 bottles left.

I also had Reschke Empyrean 2010 and it was an absolutely amazing wine I thought.

Damn. Looks like you are right. My third and fourth bottles were well past their prime. Very disappointing as the first two were fine...

Probably reach out to VM - I have reached out to them previously for 1-2 bad bottle of wines (usually corked) from a case, rather than returning the whole case, and VM would issue a credit for the bad bottle(s) if it is within a year of purchase to your account

Sampled Pirramimma ACJ 2017 I got earlier this year from VM for $35 tonight.
Must say I enjoyed it even more than it’s more expensive stablemate Pirramimma Warhorse Shiraz.
ACJ is a blend that has Warhorse shiraz fruit, CabSav and other constituents that included tannat that must have added more complexity to the wine.
just checked VM and they are still selling it. Would highly recommend despite Sam Kim’s 97 point verdict! Quite a special drop.

TWC have also just landed the 2009 Reschke Bos

Anyone have any ideas for the below??

I wanted to get in touch to give you exclusive early (pre-arrival) access to an incredible premium, aged Hunter Valley Semillon and Shiraz from the same producer. It's a bummer I can't include photos of these wines because they both present really beautifully in stunningly eye-catching bottles.
A fantastic opportunity to appreciate the characteristics that make Hunter Valley Semillon, so unique and special in its ability to age and evolve far beyond other white varietals in the new world. This Semillon was given a special value award from James Halliday while being sold at $100 per bottle, but you can get your hands on it for only $29.90!

It's quite rare we are able to get our hands on this calibre of hunter Semillon, so please let me know if you would like to jump on some before it sells out!

1. (Pre-arrival) Black Market Semillon 2016 Hunter Valley, NSW

This Semillon still holds plenty of acidity and freshness despite the age. Driving lemon citrus combines with mineral complexity on a textured palate. Drinking beautifully now but will continue to develop texture as well as honeyed and nutty nuance with further ageing.
Just add Oysters!

Cellaring: 10-15 years

2. (Pre-arrival) Black Market Shiraz 2013 Hunter Valley, NSW

A quintessential representation of Hunter Shiraz. Expect an elegant, medium to full bodied shiraz with concentrated cherries and plums expressed alongside impressive tannin structure. fantastic length is highlighted by savoury spice, clove and vanilla oak complexity. A Shiraz built for age, this is just now coming into its ideal drinking window.

Cellaring: 10-15 years

Edit: Im thinking possibly Tempus Two Uno for the semillon?
If that is the Tempus Two Uno, I would recommend to pass...

I had it as part of a mix dozen of aged Semillon from AWS (at $20/bottle) and it was the worth of the lot.

How would you compare this with the Wills Domain Matrix? I recall they are similar blends both available through VM too. Thanks for the TN!

Completely different in a way yet both are fantastic in their own right.

Matrix is a bordeaux blend finely structured typical of Margaret River blends. Delicate and subtle. 72%Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, 11% Malbec, 6% Petit Verdot

ACJ is an aussie Cab Shiraz blend from McLaren and I quote from their website "48% Cabernet Sauvignon from our Basket Weave block, 21% Shiraz from the War Horse block, 11% Petit Verdot from the Siberia block, 8% Tannat from the Olive block, 6% Merlot from our Katunga vineyard and 6% Malbec from OTC."

I think the Shiraz adds a punch in the middle, and there was this gentle brightness as well I think stemming from the Tannat. Overall fuller bodied and unashamedly more in your face than Matrix being McLaren Vale.

Horses for courses I am afraid.

You recommended this last time, I'll jump on it next time VM has some Bonus/CB! I was 50/50 on spending $35 a bottle from VM.

Personally I would never buy a wine on the basis of a Bonus/CB coupon etc, the quality will always come first. They only made a limited number of those ACJs so likely it will sell out like the last time.

That said - Here is a coupon M4R746 - should get $20 off

I wouldn't either, I just meant I'd rather buy this wine if I could save even more! It's been up for quite a while since you last posted? Otherwise it came back in stock I assume.

Thanks
