I'm hoping that someone in a similar situation might be able to provide some clarity on flight credit/voucher usage on partner/OneWorld airlines. I would reach out to the Qantas call center however I don't have a spare 3 hours in my day to remain on hold for an answer, hence my reach out to AFF forum users. I currently have about $1500 in Qantas Flight Credit (split across two vouchers) from cancelled flights last year. My plan was to use the credit over the 2020 Christmas/New Years break however the knee jerk border closures resulted in those flights being cancelled and the vouchers effectively being re-issued. I've since taken up a new job in the USA and have no intention of returning to Aus this year. Whilst the Qantas website says that flight credit can be used outside of the country of booking, it doesn't specify whether or not this has to be on QF metal. I'm obviously hoping to use the credit on AA flights here, issued under a QF flight number. Does anyone know if this would be possible from their own experience? Or would this credit only be useful on QF metal between the USA and Aus (once that eventually starts up again)?
I'm hoping that I haven't just made a $1500 'donation' to Alan Joyce and am able to recoup some of the money that I've already spent.
TIA
