Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

TWC have launched a "Warehouse Clearance" sale. Anything worth getting?

I'm a fan of the Pirathon Silver Shiraz at around $17 but couldn't work out how to apply the 10% discount in the cart. Doesn't look like it will stack with reward points either

Just in from Cashrewards:

'ENDING SOON: Save 5% on Woolworths Gift Cards
As a valued Cashrewards member, we want to tell you about upcoming changes to our Woolworths Gift Card program.

  • From 21 Oct 2020, we’ll offer 3% discount on Woolworths Gift Cards.
  • From 19 Nov 2020, no further discounts will be available.

This decision applies to a wide range of partners advertising Woolworths Gift Cards and lies outside the control of Cashrewards.

Stock up and save

There’s still time to save 5% instantly with Woolworths Gift Cards. Stock up now to keep on saving at Woolworths, Dan Murphy’s, BIG W, BWS, Caltex and more.'

This appears to indicate that the change will be universal: ' This decision applies to a wide range of partners advertising Woolworths Gift Cards and lies outside the control of Cashrewards. '

Question now is how much to stock up on!

UPDATE: just bought 10 x $500. Should I buy more?

UPDATE 2: All 10 cards were received within 10 mins.

Sad times, Woolworths gift card worked really well over the years, I guess with the increased demand from the pandemic, there's simply no need to offer discounts to bring customers through the door.

Any announcement from ShopBack?
Probably best to wait and see if they follow suit.

Coles gift cards % off were reduced earlier this year. Given the limit of $500 via most sources for these cards, it's more difficult to stock up.

AGL and Suncorp have also just announced reductions. I can't see Shopback being the odd one out.

Permanent reductions or stopping all together?

I am just wondering if this is across the board though. The suncorp app only mentions 'Woolworths and Caltex Woolworths' cards. Via the suncorp app 'Woolworths' egift cards were already only 4%, thats why I buy 'Dan Murphy' cards instead, as they are 5%. There was actually no mention of lowering Dan Murphy cards to 3% (you can use Dan Murphy cards at Woolworths as well)

I use SmartSpending via work. I'm guessing they will all be affected. It was the main reason I shopped at Woolies over Coles. The 5% was a nice little bonus that enticed you to shop there and buy products from Dans. Sad news.

Currently. But this could change. Coles has the precedent already.

UPDATE: For those interested, I contacted Entertainment Book (another source of 5% off cards). They have said that everyone selling these cards will be impacted. it's a Woolworths forced change on all suppliers. They say that they are reducing their offering to 3%, but not to 0%.
