New 100 Year anniversary Q Tags

Has anyone heard any updates on the resumption of bag tag and card distribution?
I sent in an email request for the new luggage tags via the Qantas Contact Us page yesterday, and got a response this morning to say they'll put them in the mail and I should see them in 10-14 days time. I'll let you know when they arrive.

Dear Mr B,

Thank you for contacting the Qantas Frequent Flyer Service Centre.
This is to acknowledge that you are requesting for the Qantas Anniversary Luggage Tag. However, please be advised that Qantas will temporarily pause the distribution of the majority of physical Frequent Flyer cards and kits because of the ongoing pandemic situation from 1 April through to 30 September 2020. Qantas will however continue to monitor the situation and adjust the time frame as required.
We value and thank you for your continued loyalty to Qantas, Mr B.
For other enquiries, you can call Frequent Flyer on 13 11 31 between 7am and 7pm (AEST) Monday to Saturday. If calling from overseas, visit qantas.com/contactus for your local contact number.
Kind regards

I used the "Membership Card" category on the drop down menu, with my request;
"I'm after two of the new 100 Year anniversary luggage tags. Could you mail them to my home address please.

Their response this morning was:
"Dear Mr Kookaburra,
Thank you for contacting Qantas Frequent Flyer Service Centre.
As requested Mr Kookaburra, we’ve ordered your Qantas bag tag, which will be delivered to you in the next 10-14 business days.
We welcome your feedback. For us to improve our service, please complete our customer feedback survey via qantas.com/QantasEmailSurvey *

Maybe if you just ask for the luggage tags, perhaps the card request is complicating things?

I just requested tags using the exact same method as you, and received the below response two hours later from "Jennifer" - possibly the same person?

Like most airlines impacted by Coronavirus Mr <sudoer>, Qantas is bound by Government enforced travel restrictions resulting in network changes and lounge closures. As a result we have paused a number of our travel related services including the issuance of physical membership cards as well as the "100th anniversary" design bag tags, and so we’re unable to send it to you at this time.

If you expect to be travelling in the near future, you can use the digital Frequent Flyer card available on the Qantas App by selecting ‘My QFF’ and the card icon in the top right hand corner of the screen. Your Frequent Flyer status will continue to appear on boarding passes provided your membership number is entered into your booking.

🤷‍♂️

How do government enforced travel restrictions stop them from sending luggage tags? This is becoming a really lame excuse for lots of things unrelated to actual government restrictions (and Qantas is by no means the only company using it).

Maybe I just lucked out, but I'll have to wait until it actually turns up before I can start crowing about joining the exalted few with "The Tag".

One Tag turned up in the mail yesterday (Fri 21 Aug) - MrsK had hidden the envelope knowing I was hanging out for it. I can now do the mini-version of my Happy Dance - the full blown version being reserved for when my upgrade requests to J come through

So did we work out what the trick to getting it was, or do the rest of us just need to be patient and wait until July August October?

Qantas would be trying to reduce operational expenses wherever possible. Although the tags may already be purchased and in a warehouse somewhere, the postage would be incurred now. They would want to defer that postage/shipping cost until they can offset it with actual revenue.

We all know this - the point is they are hiding behind "government restrictions" as an excuse to stop them delivering the luggage tag entitlement to their FF members. It's clear there is no actual restriction when they'll send @kookaburra75 one but not me!!! (still a little bitter 😋)

Well they sold the Pj packs so.....

Postage would have been factored into the $25.

I doubt they would have turned a profit on the PJ packs, I imagine it was more a marketing + cashflow + spoilage reduction exercise. (The Tim Tams, nuts, and toothpaste in the amenity kits would have expiry dates)

I should have read this thread first ....

Just spoke with "Qantas Premium" in the Philippines

Took me through 6 security questions first before informing me that bag-tags are "restricted" and she was "escalating your request". I asked what "restricted" meant before she finally admitted that they are not being sent out at all "but you are such a good customer I will ask for you". She then came back and asked when my next travel was ... I then questioned whether they're either restricted or not again and why QFF isn't meeting it's obligations ... she again said they are not being sent out nor are FF cards. I asked why we weren't being notified that these obligations were suspended and she said that the notification was available on QF's Covid-19 page - which I read back to her and doesn't mention any of this ...

I guess I'll have to resort to buying them ... !!!

Regards,

BD

I find that part weird as I got my FF card in May even though apparently they weren't sending them out

An update ....

The CSR I spoke to yesterday called me back - unfortunately I was on a zoom so it went to vm which was just she informing me she had an update ...

Called QFF and was informed that my request had been granted, they wanted to double-check my postal address - done - and informed my tags would be with me in 10-14 days.

Result!

Regards,

BD
