PlaneTags have released a series of tag's made from a Qantas 747. VH-OJN was retired in 2011, so not one of the recent planes, but could still be a good collectable given the uncertainty around the future of the fleet.

Ouch. At $100, I'd want a plane tag the size of a wing.

The price seems to depend on what colour you choose. Red is $34.95 USD and White is $29.95 USD.

They are pretty pricey though. Still nothing compared to what people are buying the SQ A380 9V-SKA on the resale market. Prices reaching $200 AUD on eBay.

I like the shape and design of the AviationTags ones better, but they are yet to release a Qantas one.

Still cool to see someone releasing a Qantas one. I might buy one of the red or white ones.

Looking for a memento?

That's a tiny cabin sized bottle. The one that went bang was a lot bigger.

But, I do have a memento. The crew got the QF engineering department to make up a presentation for me, that includes the upper section of a real 747 oxygen bottle. I've always wondered which aircraft is running around one short.

Dylarr and Oatek, what shipping method did you select and roughly how long did it take to arrive?

I used the default shipping (USPS) and it took exactly 1 month and cost $15 USD. I think I got lucky with this one though as I've had other USPS parcels take around 2 months or so at the moment.

I am still waiting for mine. Appreciate there are delays given the demand but it is now a month since I made two orders and haven't got either one - the postage wasn't cheap when you convert it into AUD.

Ordered 5 June, Received 30 June. A lot of USPS shipments are getting stuck waiting to leave the US at the moment, there's a lack of flights given the situation. Regardless of the standard postage price, there's not really a whole lot the merchant or USPS can do.

At least the shipment is not coming from Japan, where there's currently no air mail at all to Australia. Everything is coming via sea mail, which is taking at least 2 months.

Funnily enough, my tags actually took a detour through Japan on the way here (most USPS shipments to destined for Australia is being routed through Asia hubs like Tokyo/Hong Kong at the moment). And as you said, the delays with USPS are shipments actually getting stuck in the US at hubs like LAX, ORD, MIA for months on end. Once it leaves the US, it's fairly quick.

Hong Kong Post has also stopped air freight so I had to have a merchant ship an item to me using sea freight. It was shipped on the 9th of June and arrived today, so just under a month from Hong Kong which I was quite impressed with. I was expecting to wait for months.

The one I ordered for my Son in law in the UK arrived there today, so 5 weeks.

For anyone interested, they just released a limited release of gold tags. They come at a price though...

There is also a bundle with gold / red / white:
