Fly Well. New QF Covid procedures

Hi Justin, to clarify, the no meal service on board is only up until 30 June. We will inform you if there will be any changes with our service. Thanks - Camille
That might help you for your upcoming flight but doesn't explain why they allow people to buy bundles where they cannot offer all of the benefits associated with them.

I took a flight last weekend in domestic J. The options were a cheese plate or a hot chicken dish - I chose the latter and enjoyed it. Admittedly I don't fly domestic J that often but it was roughly on par with international premium economy bar the absence of salad. I also noticed the plane I was on had the old safety video (i.e. 'Hey Bec') - the crew explained that it hadn't yet been installed on that aircraft prior to COVID-19 so that's not quite gone forever.

Qld just announcing borders opening from 10 July, except Victoria where in effect the hotspot declaration has been extended to whole state, and quarantine is in hotel at own expense.

So looking forward to BNE lounge reopening soon.

Yea loopholes a mile wide will let anyone in who really wants to com, no matter where you are from anyway - so Anna gets to look tough in the media but also knows that she is basically open slather now, which will keep the tourism industry happier! Quite clever (for once)!

QF has a timetable of lounge reopenings, PER should be reopened now too...

Why? surely you want pax to stay in their seat and not move around the cabin?

My question is addressed to Qantas management not you the individual.

As mentioned in a few other threads - cost. The licencing and broadcast fees for the copyright product cost $100,000's regardless of how many passengers or flights. Not sensible in the current lock-down environment. When all borders are open and regular frequent scheduled flights with reasonable contingent of passengers to defray costs it likely will be turned back on.

To be honest on QANTAS the WiFi was always fast enough to stream so I usually choose that over shows offered anyway.

Yes it was, I just used my iPad and used iView or something.

VA1 WIFI wasn't as good, maybe Bain will fix it.

A small review from my travels today... Brisbane to Cairns on Jetstar:

Check-In - I'd already check in on the app, I did this around a week ago and there was no health check or questions (although I believe both Qantas and Jetstar now have this). I was traveling with someone who had a checked bag and the process was strange, you had to use a kiosk (every 2nd one was turned off) to print a bag tag and then join this long queue (with no social distancing) to see one of three desks to drop your bag. Surprisingly the self service bag drop is switched off/closed something I would have thought they'd use as it's less person to person contact.

Security - Nothings changed apart from social distancing stickers on the floor which no one was paying attention to.

Airport - Most shops are shut with limited food places open, in the Qantas food court area there were 2/10 shops open. The Qantas club has got a big KEEP OUT sign on the door. Those of you who are familiar with Brisbane domestic airport would know how it's got three sections that stick out from the main terminal (The Qantas, Jetstar/Other and Virgin ones). Well, the flight to Cairns was leaving from the Jetstar section that sticks out however they're also using that section for flight arrivals from all other cities (except Melbourne gates which are even more separated), as a result, there were people getting off a Sydney flight having border passes checked and only people with a boarding pass could access that section of the terminal (checked by someone from the Army).

Boarding - Boarding was late (typical Jetstar) and then an announcement of "boarding will start in 1 minute, rows 1-16 use the front steps and rows 16 onwards the rear steps". Amazingly that was the last announcement from the gate staff because sure enough boarding started a minute later with no one called by rows or anything similar, there was a tub to collect a mask/2 wipes but it wasn't required nor did they make an announcement about it.

Inflight - Inflight the crew wore a face mask/gloves and made generic Qantas group announcements about hand hygiene etc. Some of the announcements like "you were given a fly well pack" weren't really true. About 1/5th of the flight wore a facemask. Those who did order a meal or had food in a bundle were given it but no buy onboard menu.

Arrival - This was the strangest part of the flight... we landed and then the announcement to remain seated until the row in front or behind was leaving... people listened and remained seated until just before the first person decided to leave, someone from the Queensland Police came onboard and made an announcement saying everyone needed to show ID getting off the flight. If you had a gold coloured Queensland license then you were free to go (but were asked if you've been outside of the state in the last 14 days), everyone else or those who couldn't show QLD ID was pulled aside and questioned. Amazingly after that announcement, onboard everyone rushed for their license and decided they all needed to stand up, back to the good old days of everyone standing in the aisle.

So we have empty airports and pax from different states all jammed into small areas of the airport, auto self serve infrastructure switched off, social distancing enforced until we get on the plane and then the yield managers run riot, and contradictory in flight catering policies, this Covid virus seems to have a effect of killing off common sense rather than people.

So - why the hell are they checking IDs on an intrastate flight?
