Seppelt cleanskin 1999 vintage port 12-Case (half -bottles) $75 ( + $20 postage vic).

Pops up on Auctions but comforting to buy direct.

I wonder what it is. About 10 years ago the were flogging the 1999 Seppeltsfield GR54 Vintage Fortified half bottles for the princely sum of $2.50 each. I opened one on ANZAC day this year and it was just entering its drinking window. Stunning wine.

Just looked, they're wanting $25 to ship to Perth. That's a bit rich, especially on the same page it stages "Until further notice, we will also be offering complimentary freight Australia-wide on orders of 6 or more wine bottles. ".

Was thinking the same, if you add 6 cases it takes shipping off though 😂

Nice, seems I was misinformed - $45 off $125 spend makes Wild Card (Lindeman's Coonawarra Trio 'Limestone Ridge' Shiraz Cabernet 2015) $22.50 :)

I've been interested in trying the Standish wines. From what I have read they seem big and generous but are they approachable young?

The ones that seem to pop up the most is the Standish and Schubert theorem

Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz is now a deleted line at Liquorland.

$21/btl at the store near me for the 2014 vintage.

I like the O’Riada, so I presume this is the next rung down.

Yes, it is deep, concentrated, layered. It is ready to drink. In my opinion these kind of high maturity red should be drink while it’s young or under 5-8 yrs after release . Aging will lose the power, strength.

I think this wine is a cracker. hard to find competitors in this price range.

Yes, but be prepared to work to their pace. Whilst young, typically you'd want to pop the cork the day before you plan to drink them. Some take longer to open up, e.g. I found the 2016 Relic was reticent & took 48hrs to really turn into something remarkable. The 2017 Lamella I tried recently was at its best after 72hrs, but really would have benefitted from another decade of cellar time. Some are approachable with a small decant, i.e. the 2016 Schubert Theorem was brooding, yet relatively approachable with a little bit of air. 24hrs saw that brooding nature disappear & the wine ascend to a whole new level on the palate. So - it depends. Wines of this calibre can take a little work to hit the sweet spot, particularly in their youth, but can still be absolutely incredible when you find it.

fyi Different Drop are already "temporarily out of stock" of the Lamella

Horses for courses - depends on what one likes/enjoys/prefers

When young, wine might be too powerful and unapproachable, unbridled or overwhelming, perhaps unbalanced, in terms of fruit, oak, tannin

Time, ageing/airing/decanting, can better integrate and soften these, as well as develop secondary/tertiary characteristics

I think this wine is a cracker. hard to find competitors in this price range.

True, though three cheaper South Australians come instantly to mind: Wendouree, Marius, Sami-Odi

Any tips? Couldn’t get it to do it

Spent enough?

Always the one gets sold out every year, this and the Standish shiraz is on top of my list.

Yes, I ordered both - My Wine Guy now also sold out of Lamella, they had a limit of 6 - Winefront reviews expected this week or next

Thanks all. So from my understanding?
- Schubert = Dark Brooding Blend
- Standish = Bigger more generous single vineyard
- Lamella = More elegant , spicey, perfumed single vineyard (all relative of course)
