Qantas is offering up to 150k QF points with new health insurance policies until 8 May. Earn up to 125,000 points in the first year, and 25,000 more points for renewing the policy for a second year. I think the full amount of points only comes with the top (i.e. most expensive) policies.

Anyone taking this up?

Nah. Would be cheaper to just buy the flights the points would get you.

I.e. MEL-SIN in Business would be cheaper than the difference between Qantas’s top cover for two people and the best priced competitor with comparable cover!

(Have to have a couple and top cover to get the full advertised bonus points)

If you’re like me and don’t need top cover then the deal just gets worse and worse.:p

I jumped on when it was 100k. Did the top cover for the 2 month minimum and then dropped back to what we actually need.

Seems like the best way to do it.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Smart way to go about it. Based on this wording, could you simply obtain cheap cover for the first 1.5 months, upgrade prior to 2 months & still be eligible for the 125,000?

Probably not worth the effort to continue retaining for the secondary years 25k earn.

“ Year one points will only be awarded to the primary policyholder after the policy has been held for 60 continuous days and will be based on the level of cover held at that time. Year two points will be awarded to the primary policy holder after the policy is held continuously for 14 months and will be based on the level of cover held at that time.”

I don't have any love for QF's points-offering deals. From our experience it would be an expensive way to buy points.
We (mid sixties couple) have top cover with BUPA and investigated the QF Health Insurance but we would have been worse off with them.
Price was about $40/m higher and there's a sliding scale applied to how many points you get - we would have got only about half of the advertised points supposedly on offer.
I also recently got a quote from QF car insurance on our 1YO Merc (no "at fault" claims for >25years) and they were just under $400 more expensive than our existing renewal figure and their agreed value was $6K less.

For me that seems like a cheap way to buy points. If it is only $40 more expensive per month more, that's effectively $80 for 125k points with the top cover?

I need to get a policy by the end of this month. Yes recently turned 31.
How did everyone go with this, does it work if we get the top policy and then drop it down to the minimum after the 60days? How long does it take the points to be posted?

any info will be helpful. I'm researching health insurance all day today.

Never mind. Just did a test run to get a quote and it's pretty expensive:
60,000 QFF bonus points for Single
Gold Hospital Cover + Top Extra : $297.05 per month
