Hi all,

I have a ticket booked via AA (001 stock) with a combination of Qantas domestic/Intl + AA domestic legs (all AA flight numbers). My QFF # is attached to the AA booking so it appears under my profile. however I am unable to perform seat selection on any QF legs, with the error of "We apologise for the inconvenience, your seat selection is no longer available. Please try again." I called QF to see if they could select seats, they advised that seat selection is not possible until check-in owing to the fact that the is booked as a codeshare.

Is this a 'feature' of Amadeus (QF) vs Sabre (AA) bookings? Is there a second ghost PNR available that I can use to access seat selection? Flying in J on the 787 for the first time so keen to grab one of the true windows seats, i.e. rows 3/5/7

Thanks.

I’m not sure if this will help, but for such a booking you should have both an Amadeus and a Sabre reference.

If you go to ‘manage my booking’ on Qantas, rather than accessing through your profile, and then use the AA Sabre reference, it should load up your booking. Then at the top of that ‘manage my booking’ page it will have the Amadeus reference. As far as I know, they’re the only two record locators that would exist.

You could also try ‘manage my booking’ on rj.com using the Amadeus reference.

Finally, you could try choosing your seat through the AA app, using the Sabre reference.

Not sure if any of this will work!

Thanks for the words of advice - playing around with the Amadeus PNR on Qantas, RJ and Finnair sites doesn't seem to do the trick, and AA will only allow selection on the legs they are operating.

I will keep trying via QF, flight is more than a month out so here's hoping it automagically fixes itself. There is no bad J seat on the 787, but some are better than others!

I recently flew AA domestic

Mr Pippi had a seperate ticket to me, which was a basic economy. Although he is Platinum, he couldn't do seat allocation.

I had the next fare bracket up, still in economy, and I could allocate myself a seat when booking.

Not sure if this relates to your booking?

The original poster said "flying in J" which refers to business class, so no they aren't basic economy. Business class definitely includes seat selection.
I took the J class to be the 787 with qantas in his itinerary and domestic AA economy.
Could be my interpretation

Ah, that could be, but in that case it would at least be a standard economy bucket that allows seat selection for the domestic segments too. Basic Economy is only used for domestic-only itineraries.
