Qatar lounge in Singapore T1 (Opened Jan. 2020)

Don’t suppose you know the opening hours?
I’m presuming it’s only open a couple of hours before QR flights (I must admit I don’t know the timings of QR’s flights from SIN)

Sorry I forgot to ask... @KSC or @Aeolus can you try to find out?

QR flights are scheduled to depart SIN at 2 am, 10:55 am and 8:25 pm so it should be open at the same time as QF flights.

Executive Traveller has the lounge now in 'soft open' phase:

From the article:

Opening hours:
Qatar Airways' Singapore Premium Lounge will be open from 8am to 11am, and then from 5.30pm through until 2am.

Access
Qatar Airways' Singapore lounge is reserved for business class and first class passengers of Qatar and other Oneworld member airlines. There's no access if you are a top-tier frequent flyer (Oneworld Emerald or Oneworld Sapphire status) but travelling in economy or premium economy class.

Although this is at odds with most Oneworld airline lounges, where shiny status trumps travel class, it's a long-established practice at all Qatar Airways' Premium Lounges and in keeping with the airline's desire to ensure an upmarket lounge experience.

SIN is now a hellava OW lounge crawl!

I can vaguely understand how they can get away with only allowing their J and F pax in to their lounge in London. But how do they get away with allowing you in by OW status when flying on another airline but not in Y?

All of QR's out-station Premium Lounges are available to both QR and Oneworld passengers, as long as they're in business class and first class. Status doesn't matter.

In fact status itself doesn't cut much ice in QR's own lounges, with the notable exception of its flagship Al Sawfa 'first class' lounge at Doha which now allows entry for Platinum members of QR's own Privilege Club frequent flyer scheme who are booked into QR business class).

For those wondering how QR can 'ban' status passengers in economy or premium economy from its lounges without falling foul of Oneworld lounge access rules: QR's 'out', in terms of Oneworld's requirement that a member airline offer lounge access to Emeralds and Sapphires regardless of class of travel, is to provide such access but to a different lounge, instead of QR's own offering. It's still complimentary lounge access based on status, so it ticks that Oneworld box.

At LHR T4, that's the Plaza Premium lounge; at SIN T1, it's the SATS lounge; and of course, rather infamously, at DOH there are dedicated lounges labelled 'first class' (see pic!) and 'business class' which are basically for Oneworld Emeralds and Sapphires flying in economy.

I was not aware of this. So as a WP flying QR J, I accidently "slummed" it in the wrong lounge. Damn!

I went to the Al Mourjan business lounge. It seems from what you said I could have had access to the Al Sawfa first lounge.

Not quite: Al Sawfa 'first class' lounge access is only for Platinum members of QR's own Privilege Club frequent flyer scheme who are booked into QR business class. No such allowance is made for QR business class travellers holding Oneworld Emerald status with any other Oneworld airline (in your case, QF) – Al Safwa access for business class currently applies only to QR's own Platinum-coated frequent flyers.

QR rules favour non-status J flyers like
myself.
Wouldn’t be too worried if I had high status (traveling Y) as I would head to QF first lounge in Singapore.

Ahh...ok. So not accidental slumming then was done by me :)

Here is a good write up review:

This lounge is available to passengers flying on a Qatar Airways or any oneworld member operated flight:

  • in First Class or in Business Class.
  • in any class of travel provided they are connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights on the same day of travel having arrived in First Class or Business Class with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours (e.g. Qantas Business Class SYD-SIN followed by SriLankan Economy Class SIN-CMB, access is permitted).
If you hold Qatar Airways Privilege Club Silver, Gold or Platinum status, or are a oneworld Sapphire or Emerald member flying in Economy Class on Qatar Airways, you will instead be directed to the SATS Premier Lounge in Terminal 1.

My J upgrade request on QF just came through so I should be able to walk in this Fri as a QF WP, is that correct?

No, you can't walk in as an Emerald/WP, but you can walk in as a Business Class passenger.

There is a distinction between status based access (none) and Class of service based access (oneworld First/Business, connecting/departing).

We are travelling DOH-SIN on QR in J later in the year, our onward flight from SIN is TBA.... would we be able to access this lounge with an incoming QR J boarding pass?
