QFF acount got hacked

I have a couple of times received an sms from Qantas with a verification code and I haven't anytime recently tried to log into my account.. Message says "****** is your Qantas verification code. Unexpected SMS? Call 13 11 31."

So not sure if someone is trying something on, but I'm often at work and it's not convenient to call the number up and sit on the phone forever to find out what is going on...

whilst I find the sms code annoying. It does add another layer of security which I guess is a good thing

I get these on average of one per week. Nothing nefarious so far. Assume it’s subscribed apps just scraping data.

.. I have got my account hacked and just came to know now...
Perhaps a jilted ex who knows/discovered all your password stuff? 🤔

Edit: As others have said, no good pointing the finger at current/former QFF staff. That will go nowhere. Anyway, you are only guessing, and without any evidence. I’d look closer to home.

Edit: If it’s all kosher from your end, QF will re-credit the points

I'd much prefer proper 2FA that I could add to an authenticator app/1Password. In addition, scrapping the PIN for a proper password would be great. Perhaps leave the 2FA for when transacting only to make access easier in general.

Though it's a PITA when you are out of the country and want to avoid roaming charges.
There is usually a small print red link 'I need to verify another way' that allows you to obviate the SMS and get a code by email, answer security questions, etc. Useful in countries where roaming isn't an option and you won't receive the sms.

cheers skip

This has been debunked many times. There are no charges for receiving an SMS from AU while overseas from an AU mobile provider.
While true, be careful of day pass options like Telstra has. Sometimes GPS can ping data without the user knowing and mobile data turned off. Could trigger the $10 charge.
