Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Vintage Cellars sent me a text (as they often do) offering Curtis Limited Series Maclaren Vale Shiraz 2016 for $210/6bottles ($35/bottle reduced from $100). Apparently this is similar to DM Direct, wine is delivered from the winery or distributer and not necessarily available in store, but I still got 210 Vintage Cellars Shares credited to my VC wine club a/c. Anyone know of this wine?
I bought 6 as vivino has some +ve comments. I replied text for Vintage Cellars to ph me to put in my order, and can pm anyone who wants that number to similarly text them (she said it was ok to share). Not sure if you need to have a VC wine club account to process the purchase.

Winedirect have the Curtis wines in their packs all the time. I guess it depends on your point of view, it's not a wine I would ever buy at $100 but it is a good Mclaren Vale wine and $35 is probably about right but as a general principle I tend to ignore those who feel wines need to be spruiked.

I bought a few of the Curtis wines when they were first being spruiked. Personally I think the difference between a $30 wine and a $100 wine is not as big a gap as $10 to $30 so I was ok if they were merely great rather than sensational at $35. But IMHO they are closer to a $10 wine and it seems more like a ploy to make a mixed dozen seem like good value when in reality it's not at all...

Thanks for your feedback guys, I won't get too excited. From the winery web site it looks like they have 3 price points, $25|$70|$100. VC have a return if unsatisfied guarantee on 6 bottle purchases so that might happen, but at least I'll get to drink 1 bottle

Evening all. Trying to work out what the following is: https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_MYSTERY330?i_cid=dskmob:6167:HP-Under-Wraps-100919

Seems like it's Martins Vineyard Limited McLaren Vale Shiraz - https://www.danmurphys.com.au/produ.../martins-vineyard-limited-mclaren-vale-shiraz

Any opinions on this one? Not really familiar with Martins...
I have tried the Martins2016 from this Wine Direct pack, which is probably the cheapest way to buy some Curtis wines. It's fair value at around $20-$30, in fact quite nice drinking already if you don't mind a bit of oak.

I don't normally buy Curtis wines due to their high/low ridiculous marketing ploy, but this deal filled out nicely some quaffer packs for friends.

Curious, the only significant discrepancy. Poor show if VC gets that wrong. But who/what is "Allegiance Wines", they don't seem to be a winery.
Another one with high prices listed on their site and selling at huge discount through various channels.

It is unclear as to who makes / where the wines are actually made.

Good recent prices on the Old Faithful range of wines at Grays.

I've been following auctions featuring this range of wines on Gray's for a few days now. Prices have been very good in my view.

I've purchased the following for around $11 a bottle (including all of the ridiculous add on charges from Grays) in the past week. That's over 75% off what the RRP is:

The Old Faithful Sandhill Grenache 2006
The Old Faithful Northern Exposure Grenache 2006
The Old Faithful Almond Grove Mouvedre 2005
The Old Faithful Café Block Shiraz 2011

More auctions featuring these items are coming up.

Obviously you need to watch the prices, but the The Old Faithful Almond Grove Mouvedre 2005 is around $10.34 a bottle with around 90 mins to go in the auction:

Not sure if this will be the case across all Dan Murphy stores but in my local (mosman) they had clearance on selected Tasmanian sparkling owing to Christmas gift pack stocks coming in and needing to offload shelf stock.
Picked up Arras blanc de blanc 2008 for $50 per bottle and had an extra $10 taken off for spending over $100 (think a current member offer) so worked out $45 each for 2 (usually $68 per bottle). Also available clover hill vintage at under $30 (usually $40 per bottle).
Maybe worth checking at local stores as obviously offers may vary. Not available on line.
