Can you earn Qantas and other program points on different flights in one QF booking?

I have a trip coming up where the routing is BNE-LAX-ORD-DFW-SYD-OOL. Ticketed by QF and all of the legs are on QF or AA except for one, the LAX-ORD leg which is on UA. It is not a code share so it's a UA flight number.

I will have my QFF number recorded against the reservation to ensure I earn QF points and SCs on the QF and AA flights, but how can I get my preferred Star Alliance program (Krisflyer) number so that the UA flight credits to that? I am concerned that if I get a UA agent in LAX to record my Krisflyer number against the reservation I risk losing my QF number on the reservation for my following oneworld flights.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide and apologies if this has been covered before, I couldn't find it.

Yes but as you say you can have trouble with an agent.
We did this when our TA got us flights CPT-JNB-EBB-JNB on QF stock.QF numbers on the BA flight CPT-JNB and Lifemiles numbers for the SAA flights JNB-EBB-JNB flights.Though she was able to do that for us.
Also with mrsdrron and a Circle Pacific QF ticket we were able to switch one AA flight to her AA number to keep her AA acount active.

How long between LAX-ORD and ORD-DFW?

If more than a day, or at least not a direct transit, it should not be too hard for a UA agent to put your Krysflyer number into the Booking/LAX segment and after traveling that segment you can get Qantas to change it back.

FWIW, a good TA can assign different FF memberships to different segments within the one booking, but sadly, it very hard to find a "Good" TA who works for Qantas.

agree. this would be the easiest way. and you can select seats at the same time.

Online and most TAs will simply use the code that assigns a FF# to the entire PNR.
If the individual flight segments are used to record the FF# (rather a painful exercise on a OW RTW ticket), then you can assign as desired. If there are stopovers, then it is normally "safe" to let the checkin agent make the changes for the current flights. Just remember to "re-assign" for the next set of flights.....
And ALWAYS check what program numbers are on the boarding passes.

Hello from Chicago.

I'm happy to report this all worked out.

When I checked in at BNE I asked the QF agent whether it was possible to add a different frequent flyer number for the UA flight. She was unable to do this. But it was super easy to do when I was transferring at LAX. Didn't even need to talk to an agent. United have self serve machines in the terminal where you can scan your boarding pass and do all sorts of operations, including adding a frequent flyer number.

Qantas points and Krisflyer points have already been credited for the two segments and I've now ensured my QFF number is recorded on all remaining segments.
