Hi
just wanted some feedback for an itinery i tried to book last night with SQ
the route is in J from
adl-lax via sin
lax-yyz
yyz-mia
mia-lis
lis-lhr
lhr-sin
sin-adl
the lady on the phone quoted me 1832000 kf miles for 4pax
im not sure if she's done it as individual segments or as a rtw fare, i was under the impression it should be 240000 miles per pax
gcmap puts me at 30774 miles which is under the 35000 limit
any suggestions before i ring them back?

Theres definately availability in saver for 4pax except for the mia-lis which we plan on going seperate days.
Sq rang back today and fed me a line “it doesnt cross 2 oceans”
I asked how does the sin-lax flight got there and mia-lis.
Now they are saying because my flight originates in adl, im going backwards to sin to get to lax. They are looking into it again but not sure how i can get around this problem unless i do the flights eastwards instead but i’ll still have the same prob getting back to adl unless i book a seperate 1 way ticket for each pax

Have you tried plugging the itinerary into the paid Star Alliance RTW booking tool?

Obviously you can't use that to book, but if the itinerary shows on there as being a valid RTW itinerary then SQ should allow the routing.

Done that also and sent them a screenshot
And it was a valid itinerary with same flights and dates

In that case they should allow it, so do try calling again.

As well as sending them through the screenshot, you could also try giving them the 16-digit reference number that you would have got from the Star Alliance RTW tool.

Yep done that
Hopefully all goes well

Also as a by note, has anyone experienced call staff not from singapore recently on kf australia number. It seems like they are off shoring and there was lots of “can you hold while i ask someone”.

No I haven't, usually get through to Singapore when calling the Australian number.

If you did get put through to a different call centre, that could explain the poor service/agent knowledge!

I'll try again during the week to see if i can get connected to Singapore.
Maybe thats why im getting the stuff around.

Been booking with sq religiously from day dot and this is the first time i've ever really had a problem.

Ive had waitlists cleared within hours and also on one occasion, I've even booked the wrong flight on award, only found out when i arrived in coughet. A phone call later and I had a flight out even when there was no award flights available thru the Singapore Air site.
So having this amount of problems booking my first RTW has really put a dampner on things

No mate
Ive rung back twice and both times ive got the indian call center. One said its been handled by another team which i cant talk to. Another one was hopeless so i hung up
I’ll try again tomorrow and hopefully i get the sg call center. Keep yous posted

I don't see anything wrong with your itinerary. Sometimes you get a bad agent and they will come up with all sorts of BS.
Going via Sin to get to USA is definitely not counted as backtracking.
Just make sure you are not stopping over in Sin twice (for more than 24 hours) although the way you've described it, doesn't look like you are.
Just call up at 9 or 10am our time and hopefully you get an agent based in Sin.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I recently made a rtw redemption with SQ and I had some trouble as I was told I can't fly through the same airport twice (even if it's a connection).
So despite you going backwards to go forwards (ADL via SIN to LAX) the fact you're going through SIN twice might be the issue?

Can you look at another option from LHR to ADL that stops elsewhere? Though I guess SQ flies direct from ADL right? We're flying out of MEL to avoid that issue (we're in CBR).

FYI timochy, I rang last Sunday at about midday or just after. Got on to the wonderful Mai Loh (I'm guessing the spelling) in the Singapore call-centre and she was really helpful.
I do hope you have been able to sort this out and get the flights you need.
Regards,
Peter

So finally got this sorted out as I'd been too busy lately
I had the original agent call me back exactly 1 month later to tell me the itinerary cannot be done as a rtw.
I was actually more angry she took a month to call me back. (gonna write a complaint)
Apparantly she was as high as I can go, she was the floor manager.

So last night I did it all again and planned a itinerary which did not go through sin on the way to lax. this was done via syd to lax on united.
while on the phone to the new agent. i asked the question again, if an itinerary is valid via star alliance, is it valid the sq. he replied yes.
So i built up my original itinerary again thru star alliance website and sent him the code.
Half an hour later, i now have 4 tickets in J. I confirmed with him if its going to be 240,000 miles per pax, he confirmed at least 5 times. I havent had the points taken out yet but I have a confirmed ticket.
itinerary as follows
ADL - LAX via sin on sq
SFO - YYZ on ac
YYZ - FLL on ac
MIA - LIS on tp
LIS - LHR on tp
LHR - SIN on sq
SIN - ADL on sq

Suggest for anyone else trying for a rtw, its a pain to get 2 award tickets, let alone 4. I also had to build in a cruise out of FLL which had to line up with award availability.
I went through and wrote down every single date for 2-3 months which was a pain but worked out good in the end.
Cant wait to take the fam away for 6 weeks for $800 pp with all the headaches it was trying to piece together, it was all worth it. I will be even more pleased when the correct points are taken out in the next few days, if not, thats another fun phone call!

So just to confirm new agent gave you exactly what the first agent refused.

Out of interest when have you booked for? (Ie interested to know how far in advance of flying you are).

Yeah, essentially the same but instead of flying from yyz to mia, flying into fll.
Leaving april next year. Early june is about as far out as i can see availability but some carriers i couldnt see past early / mid may

I am also very interested in this... I was looking at going to Tokyo via Singapore and staying in Singapore on the return leg for a few days...

I want to try as many airlines/planes as possible; but really want Luftansa 747.... apparently their reward booking only comes out a few weeks in advance..

I was the same wanting to try diff carriers but was a bit limited due to having 4pax
Luftansa and airnz do not have any award tickets i found, only in y or in split awards, y and j.

Sq finally took my miles, 240k per pax
I enquired about adding a sin to hkg then hkg to adl via sq, it could be done but was $150us per pax change fee. Not sure if thats right or not. Thought it was $25us

Hi All,

I have been looking 13/14 days out for how much availability there is for Lufthansa US to Europe - Mainly Chicago to Frankfurt and there seems to be plenty of business saver availability via the united website...

Any thoughts on this....? The easy option is united, air Canada and Austrian which also took my fancy.... should I take a chance as the flight if I held off until 2 weeks out would be mid trip...

thoughts...?
