QF Lounge access flying into PER on CX J; out on QF Dom Y [Denied despite oneworld rules]

For what it's worth, an article about this issue with a link to this thread just popped up on my news feed on my phone and led me here.

I'm unsure how the algorithm decided to send it to me, but it's certainly of interest to me. Apparently, Google is now pushing this news story to profiles like mine, so it's gained some traction.

Sounds like there is a massive problem with the PER lounge staff in particular. I would be drawing this to the public's attention on social media. One way of making life uncomfortable for Qantas for its failure to apply its own rules.
My problem is not with QF PER lounge, but on arrival on QF 568 into SYD.
Qantas in their publicity and advertising say that this flight number, when a pax are flying Business Class, they are allowed access to the QF Domestic Lounge on arrival. With a boarding pass clearly showing me on QF 568 as a Business Class passenger is presented and I am denied access, then clearly Qantas staff at the lounge reception desk need to be trained in the company's rules.

I did QF568 last night and the CSM proactively encouraged me to visit the SYD lounge after the flight.
Left hand and right hand...

Thank you, that is good to know. My guess is that it depends on the individual staff member who is on duty at the time by the look of it.

This is no longer mentioned on Qantas's lounge eligibility page... got to wonder whether all this is actually intentional reductions.

Exactly. The new lounge eligibility page has removed many previous ways of accessing lounge (eg a domestic Y passenger connecting to an international J flight used to be able to access the domestic J lounge before their Y flight).

Should a complaint be made to/copied to One World as well? Q is a member and they are violating the membership rules which has a negative impact on fliers perception of the value of sticking to a one world alliance for travel plans.
I don't think OneWorld is set up to deal with PAX.
Might be better to complain to the airline they flew in on.

It seems that Qantas deny that there has ever been any access to PER/SYD Business class Pax on QF 568 arriving into SYD.
In an online chat session with Qantas over a period of several hours today, despite showing them these screen shots, the operator is still saying no entry.
Qantas, we have a problem !!
Has anyone else encountered this refusal of entry, despite Qantas promoting their service overnight to include this benefit when flying Business Class on the flights listed ?

I have accessed MEL QP after redemption J on PER-MEL red-eye, despite the social media team telling me no prior to the flight. I also couldn't find it listed anywhere official, after having read it in an @Ausbt or similar article at some stage.

AFAIK it was only ever formally written up by Qantas as a benefit of Platinum/Platinum One.

A benefit for flying trans-con red-eye? Completely unnecessary: both WP and WP1 would have arrivals access at any domestic port off any domestic flight courtesy of their status.

Access on arrival is always a bit of a privilege or when changing from a highrer travel class to Y. I've never found the need (WP) but I can see that sometimes it can be a benefit specially if transferring from long haul to domestic and changing travel class. Just a thought but should access on arrival be at the arrival terminal and not at the next ongoing terminal? You can do that on domestic and perhaps try it on in International, if you can negotiate your way through security both ways.

Arrivals access has only ever been written up for Platinum/Platinum Ones. I don't recall Qantas ever publishing anything specific for business travellers.

They definitely did and listed specific red eye flights from Perth, it has now been removed from qantas.com but this remains:

It's an odd perk to remove, considering a maximum of 28 PAX (fewer assuming some J PAX would be WP anyway) would be eligible each day and most of them would probably be in too much hurry to leave the airport and get on with their day anyway.

I agree. I've often been tempted but felt I should get on to the city.

The pettiness that I have experienced chatting with a Qantas bod over this has driven me nuts. Despite sending this BOT screen shots, they still are saying it has never happened. If Qantas are cost cutting, this is a pretty drastic step considering the few people it would have at that time of day making use of their lounge. I don't have the phone number of Mr. Joyce but if I did, I would certainly be asking him for a please explain and perhaps a note to the ACCC may be in order. If it is advertised, it should be offered !!

Some McKinsey type has probably done the math and worked out this perk costs the company $10k a year - in water, milk, coffee, cereal, toast, ham etc, or a similar really significant amount ( ).
