Cooked up some Smokey Bbq pumpkin (and bacon) soup yesterday- eats well





6+ hours in the Weber at ~110C then scraped the goodness out of the skin and blended. Had with a dash of cream

We owed some friends a meal, and my wife's brother was visiting from a farm in the W.A. Wheatbelt, so she put on a nice "Indian" meal.

Chicken Vindaloo, Hot SriLankan Beef Curry, Dahl, stir fired vegetables with coconut & turmeric, Roti Paratha, cucumber in yoghurt and tomato and onion salad. The rice and poppadoms are hiding. My wife cooked most of it but I can lay claim to the beef curry and the Dahl.

Dinner at a pub just outside central Stockholm. There has been no "sticker price" shock here. The meal prices, and most of everything else, in 'ordinary' places are pretty much the same as Perth. The rate of exchange is about 15 SK to 1 A$. Beer is just over $9 for a pint of local lager and just under $11 for 500ml of cider.

Both meals were very nice. The peas were obviously fresh and not frozen. The chips had been cooked in very hot oil - crisp and crunchy on the outside and soft inside

Should I say what I've had? Food unremarkable at the Press Club but it was pleasant enough with a bit of live music. Being a non sitting week it wasn't very busy, so the liquid part was a G&T, a. negroni,a cosmo then a scotch on ice now at home. Work will beckon tomorrow.

I need to move in with your family I don't eat much, really I don't.....

I just taught my 58yr (retired) husband how to poach eggs.

His first attempt, sliced tomato (instead of bread), smashed avo, crumbled feta and eggs. He did good, the eggs were poached correctly/cafe worthy.
