Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Hilton Surfers Paradise Residences
Diamond
December 2018
$425 p/n (before Amex $80 cashback)
Booked & Received: 3 bedroom Ocean View

Offered early check in of 1pm, when I arrived at 2pm the room wasn't ready. Waited until 3 before it was ready to go. Late check out of 3pm offered & accepted.

Only really pleasing thing was when I left my bags to be taken up to the room, they put the alcohol in the fridge. I'm easily pleased I guess

HSP has had years to get it right and still act like a seedy $20 highway motel with stained sheets.

Why promise what you cannot (or will not) deliver? The only thing that suprises me, is that Hilton have not yet cut their losses with this place.

I must admit though, I still use this coughhole to boost the occasional stay tally, which is the ONLY redeeming factor IMHO, otherwise there are many better places to stay!

Property: DT MEL
Status: Diamond
Booked: cheapest
Received: High floor, rear, window room. 2 bottles of water on checkin, and 2 in the room.
No coffee tax at breakfast. Late checkout.

A good chat to the staff this stay. The 14th floor renos are progressing well, with completion due March/April. They are being built as loft rooms. 13th floor is currently getting new carpets and a facelift.

The new menu options available for the vouchers at the DT are a huge improvement. Had planned on going out for dinner but after they arrived there was no need.

DT-CNS - Received the suite again tonight, along with the choc coated macadamias, plus the two drinks and small bites. I chose the calamari option!

Stayed at the Hilton before going to the DT and as typical due to flight delays just missed the lounge.

Was offered a bottle of wine at check in which was nice and thanks to Jemma in the lounge included a few extras.

I do find it hard to decide between the two.

Has anyone stayed at the Hilton in Tokyo? I was thinking of buying half the points I would need for a 5 night redemption.

It's not ideal though because I'd like to spend two nights at the Hilton Disneyland.

I'm interested to see if anyone thinks it's a great hotel in a great spot? The points cost makes it comparable to a stay in a boutique 4star. Pretty sure I'll still be diamond next year.

G'day

Will be staying there late January 2019. Shinjujku is a reasonable location for doing tourist activities and the train station is one of Tokyo's main ones. Be aware that the Hilton lounge is closed for a few months for renovations. Check out FlyerTalk for updates.

We have stayed at the Hilton Tokyo a few times and will be spending NYE there this year.
As Pele said the Hilton in Shinjuku is in reasonable location, its in a quieter part of Shinjuku about a 10 walk from the main station. The hotel itself is fine but can get really busy in the lobby and breakfast areas. You can pretty much get everywhere in Tokyo from Shinjuku station but it is pretty far away from Disneyland. If you have 2 days at Disneyland you should consider the other Hilton in Odaiba. It's much closer and still fairly convenient to get around Tokyo. It's a much newer hotel than Shinjuku and the points cost should be the same.

I've stayed at Odaiba a couple of times and like it a lot.

Depending on the date, it can be either quite reasonably priced or expensive; but it's a nice hotel with a nice lounge and staff. Good view across the bay to TYO proper. There's a metro station at the front door and another (different line) a couple of blocks up the road, plus the Airport Limousine Bus stops there (limited timings). Not that far from Disney.

Overall, worth a look if you can get it for a reasonable price or acceptable points option.

Hilton Kuala Lumpur
Diamond
Booked: base room
Received: executive plus

Location is a pro of this property for day of arrival or departure being right off the train from KUL. The executive lounge is large but gets busy early, however, the food is very substantial and enough to last for dinner. The staff are very attentive in terms of drinks as well. I rate the breakfast very highly for quality and variety. The Indian and local Malaysian selection is amazing!

An excellent value DT here. The lounge is best part of the property with the killer Petronas Tower views. The food again is quite substantial. Breakfast has similar variety to the Hilton but the quality was not as high. As a revenue or points redemption this property is always excellent value.

DT KUL used to be amazing points redemption at 10k points. I noticed they’ve enhanced it to almost Hilton KUL rate lately.

Hilton Garden Inn Puchong

December 2018
Booked : Kind room (7k points)
Received : King Executive PLus with Lake View

Arrived quite early 8am, and offered $80 for early check in (and no breakfast included), requested for late checkout till 4pm.

Property: HSP
Booked: King Guestroom X2
Received: Relaxation Suite X2

Haven’t stayed at this property for a while and I must say they really improved the level of service. Starting with an welcome SMS the day prior informing us of the upgrades for both rooms and asking to know arrival time so someone can wait for us to cut the queue for check in.

The suite was fine although I couldn’t ignore the irony that a suite in Australian Hilton has less amenities in the bathroom than a basic Garden Inn room in Asia.

Executive lounge was fully open in both sides with enough seating. Evening spread was ok, decent beers on offer but the wines and spirits selection were poor.

Breakfast at restaurant was good. Barista coffee tax do apply but was waved for both rooms.

The pool area, which is usually too windy, was a welcomed heaved from the scorching heat down the beach.

Property: DT Melbourne
Booked: King Guest Room - Interior
Received: King Flinders St Station View

Booked an el cheapo rate for the most basic room for a short stay. Didn’t have much time to appreciate the upgrade as I’ve checked in after midnight and out by 10am. Nevertheless it was nice to be moved from worst to best Room.
Made good use of the complementary drink voucher to get proper barista coffee for breakfast.
