Hi - has anyone booked Melbourne - Bali on Garuda in J class using points? Which ff program is best ...Delta?
Thanks for your help ....

Hi and welcome to AFF.

Very interested to see if you get a response. On AFF, SkyTeam is a weak spot, and the collective knowledge can be a bit limited (although there maybe someone with the right knowledge, you never know).

But in terms of "which ff program is the best", the question is how will you earn the points? Flying? Transfer from hotel program? Credit card transfer? That is often a key factor. Some of the programs (apart from Garuda itself) that allow Garuda redemptions include Jet Airways, ANA, Etihad + sky team airlines ( Delta, Flying Blue (Air France/KLM), Etihad, Korean, Vietnam airlines etc).

Booked DPS-MEL in J using Citi pts direct into Garuda FF program - 50K pts one way.

Booked 8mths out so was no problem securing seat - cabin 100% full for this flt. Bed is only just so so and I would avoid o/n flt if I could. MEL-DPS day flt is fantastic - soft product really is on the mark with GA - would do daytime flt in a heartbeat.

Was looking at this a few days ago. any of skyteam. you could transfer from Marriott Rewards. there was availability on ANA but you need to book return with them ( back to same country not city)same with korean air. you can also try Etihaad.

I see that Etihad is a partner of Garuda. Has anyone had success redeeming Etihad miles for a Garuda flight? Whenever I've tried I've been told over the phone that there's no availability (even if Expert Flyer shows award seats available).

Compared to the hard product Qantas and Jetstar offer, Garuda is by far the best option on MEL-DPS.
