First Class to Business Class

Hi All,

This may be a weird question

I've never flown J on SQ. I have tried their suits class on the older A380. Have experienced TPR in Changi and lounge in SYD.

Have a trip coming up with the family (me,wife, 8 year old daughter) in J SYD-SIN-KUL-SIN-SYD.
SIN-SYD is the new A380, and SYD-SIN is the 777ER. The KUL flights I believe are the A330.

Will I feel disappointed from experiencing F previously and now going to J ? I know this is a first world problem lol. Just wondering what others have experienced in my situation.

Do the J seats offer plenty of room? And is service much lower compared to F?

have flowns suites and J with SQ. very little difference apart from the suite space.Plenty of room in J and service comparable.

At some point about 3 or 4 weeks before travel, the menu for your flight will be available to view in your booking online. I would go into the booking about 1-2 weeks before the flight to check the menu and decide what is best - stick with onboard menu or book the cook. More likely to be useful on the SIN-SYD leg, as the choices are much greater out of SIN than SYD (and of course won't be available on the SIN-KUL-SIN sectors due to the short flying time .. which is between 35-50 mins flying time depending on which direction landings are at both airports).

ok thanks for the pointers. the SIN-SYD flight is the overnight flight I think departing at 8:40pm or thereabouts on the new A380. Might struggle to get my daughter to sleep, due to the short flight and if she does sleep will need to wake up probably mid sleep

I am not a fan of SQ J. Depends on plane type and config, but I find the way you have to bend your legs to fit into the foot cubby very uncomfortable.

The problem for me is that the cubby-hole for your lower legs is down one side so yes, you'll still have to go into a 'S' shape - but some are Ok with that.

Yes it does depend on your normal sleeping style. I’m 6’ and sleep on my side curled up a bit therefore don’t have that much of a problem. Those who sleep on their back seem to report more problems with the seats.

This contrast to some other seats (Swiss is the one I have most experience) - that means when I am sitting stretched out it is fine, and would be great for back sleepers. But I have problems once I roll onto my side as it is too narrow for my knees which hit the seat divider, unless I am facing the aisle which is ok as they stick out into the aisle.

I have flow SQ J an F on the 777ER and a380 J and suites. Personally I think there is not that much difference between old SQ suits and the 777ER J. The best seats in J are the bulkheads as there is more foot room. If you are PPS you can book select these seats otherwise you may get lucky at check in if they are available. The a330 may be the regional J, however you may get lucky with the a350 on limited flights, but it does not matter it is only a 40 minute flight.

As for food most of the book the cook options are similar in J and F with a couple of more choices in F. Also there is 1 or 2 extra courses in F e.g. caviar.

Amenities - PJs and amenity kit in F, PJs are good, amenity kits are not flash. J no offering.

Lounges - pretty much a standard J-F gap with the exception of TPR.

I have not flown the new SQ a380.

J is absolutely fine. I have some upcoming flights and no hesitation booking F one way but J on the return when far more economical to do so. This is on the A380.

Thanks for the feedback. I went J both ways to save on miles lol. Family of 3 and my Kf account only has 180000miles remaining now. Long way to go to save for 3XJ return

Maybe next trip is hkg or nrt. But japan award seems quite a bit higher for J saver. May need to go hkg then purchase Y tickets from hkg to nrt
