I’m saying that there is something wrong with it, hence helping explain why it’s a secret selection. Not the other way around.
I understood. And I still disagree. On that basis all of the secret wine deals on Dan Murphys and other sites like Vinomofo all have something wrong with them. This just isn't correct. There are a variety of reasons that wines are sold in this manner. Something wrong with them is just one option. Other options, et al, include that they haven't sold and a new vintage is due, a failed export order or that too much was produced.

Something can be a secret selection without anything wrong with it.

This wine does have something wrong with it, hence why it is a secret selection.

Really hard to understand what you’re disagreeing with.

I hope your job doesn't require using logic or understanding English.

AC is just giving us a heads-up that there is something wrong with this particular wine, not saying that all "secret" wines must be flawed in some way.

Dr Ralph, I don’t see how you get to this from AC’s 2 x posts. From my perspective, I read the posts to be referring specifically to the ‘13 Coppermine Road being unbalanced and not a typical example of the label - and as such it isn’t selling, and is now being flogged off as a secret selection. I recall other posts about this wine not being very good prior to it being a secret selection. I have 2 bottles I picked up for $25 buy now from Langton’s, I haven’t tried any yet.
Do you consider the ‘13 to be a good wine?

‘13 Coppermine Road is fine. It, like many wines, will improve with time. There is nothing wrong with this wine nor is there anything inherently wrong with any of the secret deals offered as has been suggested. Hence why I unambiguously stated I disagreed with the earlier posts.

I have a problem with secret selection wines -

I wish I had bought more of the 2013 Blue Pyrenees Estate Red - It came in around $12, and its bloody sensational.
Around $35 at dan's now

13 Coppermine I purchased has been dispatched by Dan's - I actually bought them for a friend who had a $100/$95 Gift Card from CR burning a hole in his pocket - I will help him devour 1 when he collects them and post our thoughts.

DM have a secret deal 'delivery only' on a 2014 Margaret River cabernet sauvignon. $74.99 down to $35.90

I believe it to be Wills Domain Cuvee d'Elevage.

Is anyone familiar with the wine/winery?

They are a criminally under-appreciated winery and their top end wines are seriously good IMO. You are right about the wine, I've had the 2013 and it was top notch. There's a million reasons why a wine might be a secret selection, but I think in this case it's because they just can't seem to market their wines well; the wine itself is very good.

Funny, I got 6 of the more expensive Richardson's at $20 and was really disappointed with the first bottle. The rest are sleeping for a few years to see what happens.

Starting with finding a good label designer. The current one reminds me of my grandma's curtains for some reason

Same here with the Black Wattle 2014 Cab Sav... Bloody love the stuff at $12 from CM a while ago. Was funny as they were also selling it as normal at $30something at the same time

I didn't find the 2013 particularly approachable (tried a couple of bottles last year). It seems to have a decent structure, at and $12 (I got mine from CrackaWines rather than DM), it's throw away money. Maybe it'll get better in a few years. Maybe it'll go down the sink. There's so many good Cab blends at the $12-20 mark that I don't think this is particularly special.

JD Cellars have an offer on Baroli Barolo 2011 for $32. I've had another vintage Baroli before (2007) and while it wasn't the greatest Barolo I've ever had I think $32 is a great price.
