I've just checked my booking with QF online and I am flying QF25 a day earlier than I had intended (this isn't suprising to me - STA warned they may have to change flights on me, I was booked on QF93 they next day), what is unusual is that the Equipment listed for this flight is a 747-300 (classic I think you guys call them!) - I thought that QF changed them out for A330s on this route and 744's eventually? Do you think It'll be a 747-300? I think they are older than me! (19)

What date ?
But yes it appears for some reason (tourist demand) they sub a 743 on that route, i thought it strange also but i assume they have some very strange bookings that make it make sense.

I looked at some random dates in august... a mix of 332 and 743's
Mon,Wed,Fri appears to be 743's on MEL-AKL leg.

Wed 20/8 - I have flown 744's with QF to LA and found them fine, however I would have thought that 743 would be a step backward in this regard (also I thought the MEL/SYD - PER route used them therefore they would be set up for high density domestic and therefore uncomfortable for long haul). What should I expect? No personal IFE and an old outdated hunk of junk?

They were still in international config while flying between PER-MEL/PER-SYD. The have personal IFE, although on the loop system and not AVOD.

Fair enough, so presumably there are a number of channels on a loop? Unlike AVOD that lets you choose what you want, when you want.

Correct. In whY its much the same experience to any other A/C in the fleet. But in J its only dreamtime seats.
Sometimes thats the way the cookie crumbles... change 1 day to one of the A332 flights maybe ? (Brand new A/C)

When think high density config since there is no F seats and only 50? J seats, so there is not any less space for each whY seat, just more of them due to less room taken up by F/J

The period is longer than that ...

In fact; only 743's and 332's are scheduled for QF25/QF26 from now until w week before daylight savings ends (2nd November).

When i last looked on EF i saw also 743 equipment in Nov, I know i was careful to book the A332 instead.... But now i look and in Nov its listed as 744. (Now if only they would sub in a 3 class so i can actually use my F ticket, i think thats the only single non F flight in my AONE5)

I'm catching QF25 LAX-AKL in mid Nov. So far my flight is marked as a 744, so I'm happy.

Wonder how many computers won't be patched for the move from the lat weekend to the first weekend in October :)
I would have to guess that there will be many manual changes to the time for daylight saving. Hopefully Microsoft update will take care of mine.

Going off what happened when they moved the end of DST this year (e.g. check-in not working at Adelaide airport), I hope that IT departments have had their butts kicked and will get it right this time.

Based on last Microsoft attempt at a daylight saving fix i would say that is a NO !

I bought my fares and I am flying this route 20/8 on the 743. The next best alternative was $900 more expensive (Student fare compared to regular fare) so I figured that I could tuff out the lack of AVOD! Then begins my 48hrs of travel to Canada via LAX and ORD. Really should have forked out for QP when I could have afforded it! Any suggestions re:seating allocations in whY? I put a request in online for a window and got 51A - anyone know what this is like on this equipment?

Thanks! I completely forgot about Seatguru! Looks like 51A will be ok, not IFE box to compete with (Im 6'3", need the legroom!). I don't think that the flight will be the worst part of the journey, that honour may go to the 12hrs in LAX changing airlines and avoiding the cost of a hotel by flying a redeye to ORD!
