I haven't been to the Qantas lounge in SIN for years - partly due to my reduced flying on QF and partly due to the Emirates deal / flying via DXB.

I'm on my way home after a RTW on oneworld and, being one who bags Qantas quite regularly now, I gotta say the SIN lounge remains a great credit to QF, Reduced catering and concrete floors notwithstanding.

It opened at 2:30pm ( I have a long transit!) And the food and beverage, although no doubt cheaply produced, were all presented very well and the tucker was very nice.

We'll see how it performs later, when under pressure! Am off now to have a swim in the Changi pool :) and then will settle into the lounge.

It's great for a couple of hours after opening and again after the first wave of flights back to AU are boarding. But when it's under pressure, that's when EK lounge comes in handy for QF status members :D

For all the knockers of this lounge, IMO it's still better than 99% of the lounges on offer around the world.

It's no QF or CX or SQ first class lounge but it's a lot better than most standard lounges, especially when not so crowded.

There are always two cook to order dishes available as well as the buffet offerings.

That said, IMO the food and beverage and view offerings of EK's SIN lounge are better. But the showers, Australian newspapers and perhaps even the bar in the QF lounge are better.

Just returned, 4:30pm and the bogans have already taken up residence. Might be time to decamp to EK for a while.

While I'm at it, can I buy >100mls LAGS at duty free and take them on board, or will the at-the-gate security get me?

They will get you for flights to Australia and USA. For other destinations you are OK with tamper proof bags. The DF shops know the rules. Some perfumes and cosmetics are OK even without the bags. You need to purchase other LAGs (eg alcohol) quite some time in advance for flights to Australia and USA where they will be delivered to the gate.

Sorry @Austman , not clear on that (you can see how out of practice I am!). Are you saying I CAN buy >100ml perfume, and they will deliver to the gate, so I CAN take it on board to Oz?

Can you see in the EK SIN Lounge when the QF flights are called for boarding or only in the QF lounge?

You can buy >100ml perfume and the shop will tell you if it's OK or not. Tell them you are on a flight to Australia.

I've done it in SIN and the shop assured me it would be OK at the gate security. And it was, although it was technically against the LAG rules. Although in my case I think it might have been 100ml or less but would not fit into the 1l zip bag with my other LAGs (so still technically not allowed).

But the shop will know!

For alcohol it's always delivered to the gate.

Only EK operated flights in the EK lounge and only QF operated flights in the QF lounge. No code-shares are shown.

Changi airport does have an app however.

I have also bought >100 ml perfume (special order too) at SIN duty free, flying back to Australia, and it was delivered to me at the gate immediately after security.

While that is true, it is not as good as what Qantas had available for Emeralds and first passengers beforehand.

As a WP I do not like the "International Lounge" concept.

I am not looking forward to the similar coughisation that is to be performed at AKL.

It will be a sad day when AKL is refurbed. Even though AKL F decor is straight out of 1992 it's quiet and restful (apart from that doorbell noise that sounds with alarming regularity).

The QF SIN lounge was/is pretty good overall, but the food selection/quality has declined over the years (I have not been in since the return of QF1/2 however so this may have improved).

It was particularly good value when visiting on a sub AUD200 return 3K flight PER-SIN-PER...

I think most of the hate is unwarranted.
