ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I used some Kris Miles today for our next New Years Eve run in SQ Suites.
I couldn’t get the double status credits run to London work for us with Qantas based on price and upgrade points required.
For us in Perth I think Noumea and New York work on double status with Qantas.
I should be getting the tax returns finalized in February so that may generate some ATO to pay before that Amex Kris Flyer card finishes.

I got the new info today from WBC on the new Amex card. I think ill just transfer over to that and keep using Reward Pay for the ato, i can still get 3points per dollar with it, as opposed to the 2.5 now. I'm happy

Well there are points, and there are points.

In terms of Airline Points what do you get as I am guessing if it is 3 Points per $ you are earning it will be altitude Points which then are say 1.5 points at Krisfler?

With QFF from what I have read it is 1.25 Qantas Points per $1 spent on Australian purchases.

How big is your ATO bill ? Why not use Amex Edge $1 for 3MR, woolworths VISA only1. Just took more effort to purchase, but its worth it.

Could do that method. But its a bit risky as I found out and the time involved. Sometimes the transaction does not go through and you have to through a few hundred cards to complete the payment. Sometimes my local 4 woolowrths has no cards because I cleared them out already.

I was referring to how long it would take to purchase the cards.

With the new POS software at Woolies, there is now no limit to the number of cards in one transaction at the counter. Self serve doesn't even allow a single card now... but at the counter, we put through 30 at a time with no issues. The new POS also spits out the approval notices a lot faster. It seems to get the approvals first one at a time and then spits all the approvals printed notices in one go - so a bit of time waiting for the approvals to happen before the printing happens.

500 cards took just under two hours to purchase.

Does that mean we can purchase more than $500 worth on self serve, just need the approval?
I have done this. Some stores may not like it though and try to direct you to the service desk.

Remember every card, whether it's 1 or 10, requires approval. Stating "Self serve doesn't even allow a single card now" is NOT correct.

In my experience "The new POS also spits out the approval notices a lot faster" this is also not correct.

I did 10 at self serve today. No problems at all.

Anyone know if the HSBC MasterCard is a goer?
FWIW, the Amplify is still good at 0.825, as of today

Mrscove uses her HSBC CC for quite a bit of stuff but no ATO. I get the CCs ready to pay the ATO and try to get it all done inside a couple of hours. Often I pay a bit early if we are travelling.
Yes forget HSBC for ATO.
This month we have all the quarterlies.

Interesting email today:
Hi xx_XX,

If you’re looking for a smart way to boost your Qantas Points1 balance, payments to the Australian Tax Office (ATO) are a great way to earn rewards. Plus, the ATO now accepts larger sums of payments in one transaction2, so make the most of your regular payments and be rewarded in return.

Enjoy Qantas Points when you use your American Express® Qantas Business Rewards Card to make your PAYG and BAS payments. You’ll also increase your cash flow3 at the same time – freeing up funds to use elsewhere in the business, and where you need it most.
