Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Unfortunately serfty the rule isn't as generous as it might appear. The red text applies only to long-haul->short-haul and vv.

If you connect from long-haul F to long-haul J, your lounge entitlement is only to the business class lounge. For example arriving CX F and connecting in HKG to QF J, off to the QF/CX business lounges you go.

However if connecting on the same airline, they usually make the exception to use the lounge of your highest class of service.

As referenced in my prior post oneworld airline do tend to apply the lounge access based on the segment with the higher class of travel in long haul to long haul circumstances.

perhaps anecdotally it has applied, but it would be good to know the circumstances. There is no rule that can be applied in the event a non-status pax is denied entry to an F lounge if connecting to long haul J.

We are in agreement then.

I have come across only a couple of anecdotes and the access was positive for the PAX in each case.

Such connections may not be a common thing.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Is there a publicly available list of Veloce lounges? Their website requires you to enter the first six digits of your credit card and then some other information before seeing the list of lounges. I've been approved for the ANZ Black and want to find out if the lounges are located anywhere I'll be traveling.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

I just looked at that site and chuckled a bit. "Fine wine in our lounges is just the beginning"?? Now I admit the wine is generally not awful, but "fine wine"?? C'mon sport, really? And "just the beginning" of what? Mediocracy? TBH, the wine is just the beginning ... get to the food and it's all down hill from there! ;)

Question for all and unsure if already been asked but hard to navigate through all the knowledge on this forum lol.

Question/Seeking clarification in 2 parts:
1. I am travelling J class with VA in Jan/Feb next year and will be on the MEL-HKG flight that has been changed from 1am departure to ~10:30am across the board I believe. From what I have read - this will not allow me access to the Etihad First lounge as it will not be open at this time?????

2. I am also travelling VA J class (but will also be Gold status on this flight) from LAX-BNE and am on the Saturday morning VA6 (departs 10am-12pm ish) which unfortunately I think also means I won't be able to utilise the Etihad First or Emirates lounge in LAX?

Can someone confirm this for me or advise if I will have access to lounges in MEL and LAX before these flights?

Will be quite disappointed if no and seems like very poor scheduling from VA....

Thanks

I'm not familiar with VA's lounge program, but I can assure you that you will have access to lounges prior to departure. If the lounges you have identified are closed, VA will have made alternative arrangements. With very few exceptions, all long haul business class comes with lounge access as standard.

Someone up on VA will likely chime in with which lounges you can use.

Thanks for that. Hopefully yes someone can let me know what lounge access we should be able to get. I enjoy travelling with VA and as a first J class trip ever am really hoping for the all round experience! :)

I haven't flown VA long-haul myself yet, although I have a DL transPac in business on Velocity points next month that I'm hoping to switch to VA23, but I'm pretty sure they open the Etihad lounge in MEL for VA to LAX/HKG (possibly with reduced catering) and the VA6 departure from LAX uses a contract lounge that's open at the time.

As twiningb has pointed out, the Etihad lounge is listed. This may open specifically for VA flights. Competitively, VA could not afford to offer a business class without lounge access. So one way or another they will have provisions for you.

Just ask at check-in if you are unclear on where to go.

Thanks for the help. Yes sorry forgot to mention that my understanding at LAX was that they have a contract with LAX international lounge but my issue with that is that it isn't a 'private' lounge as such. Not trying to come off as snobby (I'm a poor uni student) but really hoping to maximise the J class experience and opportunity.

Hopefully in MEL they will open the Etihad lounge for it.
Thanks again for the help - may even try to change the LAX flight to the sunday where I know that's a night flight and access to Etihad/Emirates.

In MEL the EY lounge operates in the mornings purely for any international VA flight that may be departing (LAX/HKG). There is a reduced offering ... in my case it manifested itself as sparkling wine rather than Champagne although I have seen reports of no bar service.

At LAX the Saturday morning VA6 to BNE indeed gets the "international" lounge.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm wonder if Virgin will change their lounge deals by January.. Praying for that at least haha.

I'm flying SQ J DXB-SIA. I also have Priority Pass, and VA Gold

I think SQ website says access is available at Dubai International Hotel Lounge (hotel? is that right?). Priority Pass includes Dubai International Business Class Lounge.

Is one better than the other?

The SQ website shows three lounges available to you as a Singapore Airlines business class passenger - the International Hotel Lounge (which is actually a couple of lounges operated by the transit hotel, with separate First and business class facilities), or the Lufthansa Lounge, or the Marhaba Lounge. The hotel lounge is located in Terminal 3. Dunno which one is best, the Hotel lounge looks pretty sweet: https://www.dubaiintlhotels.com/lounge/lounge-service

I'm pretty sure I'd be OK for this, but I can't find an answer online and want to be sure.

Planing to fly PEK-HKG return in Y in December. PEK-HKG will be on KA metal, HKG-PEK is CA metal. I am *G (OZ). Don't even has a membership with any OW airline.

If I book through the CX website , it's about 30-40% cheaper than on the CA website. My assumption is that I would have no access in PEK (which is fine by me) and have access to *A lounges in HKG (very much want).

So,
1. Are my assumptions correct?
2. Is lounge access affected in any way by where I purchase my tickets (i.e. booking an identical itinerary with CX will give me the same lounge access rights as booking it with CA)?
