Hi, I would like to book 6 J seats using my QFF points SYD _ AKL.
I can step thru right up to payment if I put all 6 of us on the 1 PRN.
BUT.....
As I am booking/paying for my off-springs partners for this family holiday, I would much prefer to have them on their own tickets - Just-in-case the relationships go pear shaped.
SO... my question - has anyone been able to book say 4 seats, then come back into the Qantas booking system and book further seats on the same flight?
I am concerned that once a "Award Booking" has been made on that flight, (say for the 4 of us) the system will no longer let me book the other seats.
Anyone know enough about booking system to comment?

Are there 6 x J award seats to begin with? If there are then there's nothing to stop you doing one booking for 4 then another booking for 2 however that's not necessary as you could always divide one or more people off the primary pnr into their own if plans change.

It's quicker to just make the one booking with 6 pax on the pnr then if a relationship does south before the holiday just divide that pax off into their own pnr in order to cancel them. If it's a classic award then you'd be able to get a partial refund of points less the 5K cancellation penalty. If using points and pay it would just be the normal T&C's of the commercial fare ie non-refundable.

What are the plans for returning AKL/SYD by way of tickets ie award or paid fare?

The fee will shortly be enhanced to 6K

I had no problems cancelling 2 of our group of 6 when Mstr andye1 had to play a rep rugby game and leave later

Plan to cruise back from AKL.
I thought being a "classic award" that I would be told that the whole PRN would have to be cancelled, and then re-booked - which makes me nervous - hence the origingal question.
If you all feel that removing 1 of the pax from a single PRN booking for 6 of us would not pose a problem - then I will just go ahead and do the one booking.

QF usually have an option to split a booking in MMB; not sure if it works for award bookings though.

You can split a PNR just fine regardless of the type of booking. I would just book the 6 together for the time being.

..... though sometimes you may have to call to get this done, rather than do it yourself online.

Just 5 minutes ago, discussing cruises (we have a choice of 3 to book at the moment) and daughter says "Thought Adam and I might fly over a few days earlier, haven't been to Auckland"
So my having to book 6 tickets for the one day, may just now have been shot down in flames.
Thank you all for your contributions.
