Its a Woolworths rewards domain name which also contains activate-display-offer and then a stream of letters, numbers and dashes. Will work on getting a copy to post here. Can't figure out if it's a personalised link or not. I haven't logged into any of our family member accounts on my mobile but I had to activate a couple of offers on the phone for different accounts when I was having trouble on my PC at home. Not sure about sharing the link but I will consider it and decide later in the day.

To make things even stranger I came across an add for Woolworths Rewards on my mobile phone last night. It claimed that any member could apply for a 4 week offer starting this week of 10,000 points for an $80 spend each week in one transaction for 4 weeks. There was a space on the add where anyone could enter their 13 digit Woolworths Rewards number in order to apply for the offer.

I don't know what to make of it all, which is strange for me.

Good, I'm not the only one. Saw it on banner ads (google display ad network on rent.com.au last night). The thing that seemed odd to me was they only asked for the "last 4 numbers of your card" which seemed non-legit - but, it's probably targeted me using a tracking cookie, as I have logged on to both of my accounts from this machine. I put in the last 4 digits of my number and then it asks me for the entire 13 digit number. After that it activated.

It worked for Mrs Excel but when I tried to do it on my account, "
Hi Rewards member, unfortunately this offer is not available on your Woolworths Rewards card"

I have checked the URL and it can't be spoofed - it's in the format of https://my.woolworthsrewards.com.au/coa/#/activate-display-offer/<random hexadecimal key> and removing the key disables the offer.

We use these ads quite a bit at work and they're usually based on prior web traffic, or grabbing hold of your google advertising ID and retargeting you elsewhere with the ads. I'd recommend logging in to the account on whatever your regular PC is and then looking for the ad when you're on the internet - ensuring ad blockers are off of course

Edit: I might point out this is identical to an offer mrs excel received in a targeted email and I'm unsure if I had previously activated it. The UOID (5 digit number) that the email link resolves to doesn't share info in common with the hexadecimal from the google display ad, though that might be hashed for security reasons.

Edit 2: Check my inbox to find a 4x$80 for 10k offer as well! This account should already have had a 4x$40, 6k offer activated and there's no way we will spend $160 across two accounts - I think WoW might genuinely have some overlapping deals going on.... I'm not sure whether to be shocked or excited

Have confirmed others who see the ad end up at the same UOID link on the WWR website, but it doesn't seem to work on accounts it hasn't been targeted to. If it is a remarketing of the originally emailed offer, I might end up with another display ad for the offer in edit #2. Will keep you posted

After careful consideration I have decided not to share the link. I suspect there could be identifying information included in the link somewhere and there is also a chance it is targeted to one of your accounts so couldn't be used by other members. I agree with the earlier suggestion. Do some web searching on a browser where you allow advertising. Visit a couple of Woolworths Rewards web pages and then look out for the ad when it comes up on other articles and searches. If possible use a browser where you have previously logged into your Woolworths Rewards account.
 
I had a quick look at the Woolworths Rewards website about an hour ago. I've read comments from members and the Woolworths Rewards rep which suggest that there are overlapping offers around at the moment. I haven't seen an explanation of why there are no activate now buttons on today's emails.

My wonderful $40 per week offer has transformed into an $80 offer per week. Woolworths Rewards now claim the email I was sent this morning was wrong and have apologised. It would be nice if they honoured the more reachable offer. It's much more realistic compared to the other offer.
 
The (supposedly incorrect) email I received this morning was exactly the same as the "$80/week in one shop" offer I originally received.
 
All the Oops we're sorry emails have come through. The only target to change was the one I mentioned earlier where the target doubled. The rest of the targets were the same, either $80 or $110 on my account. The Oops emails have an activate button. I'll probably activate all of the buttons. One of the $80 offers overlaps with week 3 of the current promotion I'm on so I'm considering spending more on this card to get the $15 off and also qualify for the $80 target. This means I'll have to get $95 worth of groceries. $15 will come off straight away and in 4 weeks time the 10,000 points will come through.

For week 1 it works our at around a 30% return but week 2,3 and 4 will only be around a 15% return. It's less than the 25% plus return I'm making on Flybuys at the moment but it's better than nothing and as it's coming up to Christmas, I'll be needing plenty of groceries and gifts. I should be able to achieve the flybuys and the WR offers without having to stockpile too much.
 
Received yesterday 4 x $110 spend over next week = 12000 Woolworths Points ( 5220 QFF points)

However Coles got in a few days earlier with 4 x $60 spend = 10000 flybuys points ( $50 credit to use at the travel portal) .

Decisions, Decisions :)
 
I have received an email that mischievous elf was responsible for the glitch.

If I was W and wanted to 'create' some good will.

I would have then added that we are sorry to have let the 'naughty elf' inconvenience you and will add an additional 500 points to the correct offer.

Small cost in reality for W but would definitely signal a change in customer treatment.

What if someone had gone and shopped yesterday on the basis of the new offer? Luckily in my case there was not the meat I wanted to buy so I did not spend more than a small amount...

Actually they don't anymore. This offer is the one exception. I'm guessing they are desperate to bring Woolworths customers back to Big W after the backlash when they were dumped. Triple points isn't very much but it's a nice touch provided Big W have the stock and the prices I want. It only means an additional 1.5% discount on top of the 5% discount I get using RACV Wish Cards.

I hope Woolworths train their Big W staff in a hurry so they know some members have an offer on their Woolworths Rewards card. In the past Big W staff were trained very badly when it came to special promotions and even the basic rule as to how the Woolworths loyalty systems work.

I too received the same email, which requires activation, so likely to be another targeted offer.
I haven't made any purchases in a BIG W store for at least 6 months, what I do remember on my last visit is a dwindling product range and a mega party section that appeals to a very small target market.

I had zero plans to venture into a BIG W store anytime soon, although with this offer now in play, this changes the likelihood to some degree :cool:

I strongly suspect your correct, with BIG W sales in free-fall, whilst K-mart is going gang-busters in terms of sales growth.

Needless to say, at least BIG W are thinking outside the square for once in terms of promotional activity that hopefully for them highlights that ditching the loyalty card was a bad mistake.

I did my week 1 shopping at Wooworths today. I was able to take up two email offers. I was for $15 off and the other was the week 1 offer of 10,000 points for an $80 target each week.

The notations on the receipt shows that I have qualified for both offers. The $15 came off leaving a final total of $80 and there was a congratulations on the receipt saying I had qualified for the week 1 portion of the 4 week offer.

We've never spent that much on this account since the account was opened. I'm expecting the targets to go up on that account but hopefully the targets will go down on all the other accounts and we'll still get reasonable offers on those cards after this 4 week promotion is finished.

Sheesh, 10,000 for $80 spend! We got 2000 for $135! Week 1 was credited manually because we never received the booklet and because they delayed in emailing the offer details. Not sure that we will go for it, because that is a coughpy return on spend.

We've also switched back to the automatic discounts when 2000 points are accrued. I can't be coughd with QFF points....
