Oneworld separate ticket interline changes

I was checked through AA>QF for IAD-xDFW-SYD on the 4th of this month. Had SWMBO and a 6 month old plus all that entails with us, and so very much appreciated! I do believe a ghost segment had been entered for the Qantas flight; something I worked on with QF and AA shortly after the announcements were made. It didn't work outbound, however.

Cheers,
Matt.

Separate PNRs
QF-QF
QF-EK
Separate OneWorld PNRs which are Award and revenue.

There should be no "may" about it. All of the above are supposed to be through checked and have baggage interlined.

I can confirm that separate OneWorld PNRs for award and revenue were interlined in MEL F check in two weeks ago. I did airily observe after I'd received the BP and luggage check chit that the bags were interlined to final (BA rev following QF award) destination and the nice check-in agent simply smiled and yes no problem.

For all my known travel next year that has different airline connections (all OneWorld), I've made sure it is has been booked on the same ticket just to be sure.

Good news. Fly in the ointment with QF-BA if there's IRROPS though as I had an unpleasant experience with last month.

Yes, your experience is much in my mind, PF. A most unsatisfactory performance and does not augur well for any of us faced with similar circumstances in the coming weeks and months. :(

So, while it is good to hear that a combined award and revenue itinerary has been given through-checking, I would not be taking that as a guarantee for any particular check-in event.

I do hope others have given feedback on this to QF.

In the case of BA, in my experience, even before all these interlining changes, they never were efficient or pro-active in case of IRROPS when separate tickets are in the same PNR. For example, last year I flew QF to LHR with a connection to ORY on BA. All flights were on the same PNR (travel agent did it), but the QF ticket was MEL-LHR-MEL and the BA ticket was LHR-ORY-LHR-ARN. The QF flight arrived 4 hours late and I missed my flight to ORY. At first BA asked me to pay the no show fee, fare difference, etc.. I had to argue for 10 minutes and it somehow got fixed, but they flew me to CDG and I only saw my bag 3 days later in ARN.

On the other hand, I recently flew MEL-LHR-ARN QF-BA on the same ticket. I missed the BA flight and BA had already rebooked me on a later flight to ARN and re-tagged my bag. So in my experience, with BA, it makes a big difference if the connecting flights are from separate tickets even in a single PNR in case of IRROPS.
I even had the agent in the BA F lounge tell me that BA doesn't protect connections with separate tickets in a single PNR...

Redemption F (QF 11) connecting to AA at LAX

Interline declined at SYD

'Only if you connect to Emirates - OW is confirmed dead even for redemption bookings'

Sad day !

Is this from a redemption to a commercial (revenue) booking? If so, that goes against a stated QF policy.

The CSA didn't know what they were talking about. That's clearly in the face of the stated policy by QF. (Unless the AA flight was also an award ticket)

I think because its your 1st USA arrival port you have to collect bags anyway .

Doesn't prevent the interline process. Bags can still be tagged through to final destination, what it means is that once you clear immigration if the bags are tagged through you can just drop them at the bag drop area without further processing. If the bags aren't tagged through you'll have to go check them in at the normal counters if the transfer area isn't set up to do so.

If I book SYD-SIN in J as a WP, but my final destination is CMB and MLE - If I book UL SIN-CMB-MLE is there anyway I can get QF to check me all the way through? I can't buy the whole ticket on the QF website anyway (and I have actually booked SYD-SIN as a Classic Award).

Since this is an award booking, am I right that QF/EK will still check through my bags since it's matching up an award booking with a UL cash booking?

Also if I book EK with QF code, will EK check-in in Australia let me check through bags on UL? What about the other way, would UL check me through to EK or QF?

Collecting bags is not the point; rechecking them is.

Yes, going from others' reports, I had expected a lenient application of the exception for redemption tickets (AA was revenue).

Seems that gate is now also shut - EK excepted still

Ended up costing us about 20-25 min more shuffling the bags to the AA F check-in counter in T4 (waiting included).

Give you time to think about the OW worth - or lack of it !

She did go and checked with her supervisor so the reply seemed legit to me.

If the classic award was booked over the phone with QF, then you most likely can through-check to SIN-CMB-MLE. PM me your QF record locator and I can double check.

I have questions on interline with a single airline:
in December I am doing LHR-LAX on AA109 landing LAX @ 1500, then getting QF310 (AA73) LAX-SYD departing 2240 (then on to BNE). The LHR-LAX and LAX-SYD-BNE are separate bookings. I know I have plenty of time if I have to get bags and fight the security lines again, but wondering the following:

Will I be able in London to get checked in and get boarding pass for LAX-SYD-BNE?...by time I've done arrival it will probably be after the 4pm early bag drop for QF?
Will AA do a through check to BNE?
If so, I assume I will still need to get bags off carousel at LAX?
If so, can I re-drop bags and stay airside as I am only transiting or have to do the security line shuffle?

Thanks AFF gurus!
