We looking to book in 3 Business ticket for us to travel from SYD - MEL in 24 Nov , from my understanding all the Airbus A330 will have the new business suite seat looking at QF433 from Qantas website it showing the A330-200 but when i go to check Seatguru there is 5 different version of this Aircraft seat configuration . as this will be our first domestic business reward booking we really wanna try out the new seat with direct ailse access . What is the best way to confirm which flight will have the new seat

Thanks

At the moment EF is showing your flight as Business Suite A/C.

Thanks for that , so i will need to have an Expert Flyer account to be able to see correct seatmap .If we book the flight now is there any chance it will be a different aircraft seat closer to the date which is another month to go .

There are only 2 types of the 332, the business suite and the skybed.

As mentioned aircraft allocation is always subject to change so just keep that in mind

Check flight aware to see how often the equipment changes. Also see what the inbound the flight is and the outbound flight. If they are fairly consistent, then it is less likely there will be a change

Trouble is QF might swap the plane to a 737.
Happened to me 3 times for the day of my flight earlier this year.
Had to phone up QF telephone sales 3 times, no change fee as it was a J tix but not happy.
SG wait times about 25 to 35 to 45 mins.
The flight can even change the night before your flight.
Personally I would take the family SYD - AKL on the 380 In J for a holiday.

I'm not familiar with QF but depending on the class of reward tickets. If they did do an equipment change, can't you just get a refund for the ticket and get a Y ticket?

Unfortunately all you can do is look at the plane currently scheduled, but it is always subject to change, or downgauge to a 737.

There are now only three versions of the 332 (effectively 2 business class configs).
8 - Business Suites with iPads in Y
8 - Business Suites with Panasonic IFE in Y
2 - SkyBed Is and Rockwell Collins IFE

Qantas presently has no announced timeframe to refurb the two SkyBed I aircraft, and has announced they will be used on SYD-PEK from early 2017 so the seats will be around for a while.

These two aircraft do operate SYD-MEL, although haven't been on QF433 in the past week, albeit that is no guarantee.

tbh chances are given the flight in question is a month away that it will stay as a 330 - specially if it's booked fairly heavily. Sure there may be a 737 sub but it's probably unlikely

tbh while the suit is comfy and has nice aisle access for all, on such a short flight is it really a deal breaker anyway? I mean F&B will still be the same and all.

Thanks for all the infor . It look like jusr book it and hope for the best . Recently joining the points game since earlier this year and this will be my first QF J Trip ever . Looking forward to T3 Business class lounge and F&B on the flight . Been traveling with QF in Y and love their food

I recently took my first .au domestic flight in years, and to be frank - the thought of flying in a narrow
body aircraft was scaring me and I'm not the only person who feels this way. Fortunately I found a 330 flight.

So yes, it's a deal breaker with some folks.

Time to get you on a Q400/ATR72 again I think ;)

Pick seat 4A for the person who loves window view.
You can do this in MMB on the QF website, and double check on OLCI.
Seat 5A has the storage compartment next to window.
Row 5 becomes row 6 across the aisle.
You will get it when you get on board.
If you are happy to sit in J on either the 330 or (sad if its swapped) 737, then good.
Best of luck.

Given the numbers of 737's in the QF domestic network it's getting mighty hard to avoid them on most routes, including the trunk ones that used to be the widebody mainstay. I take your point on that, but it's still going to be a minority of pax who care about the aircraft. Sure, get on and see the Business Suites and I often hear "oooh this is nice" type comments, but the vast majority of flyers wouldn't bother to look at the a/c type or even seat config when they book.

of course may here are NOT those types of passengers :D

I've just finished my 35th 737 sector this year and I'm kind of over them, but that's the new world we live in to provide more schedule/flights rather than fewer on the nicer widebodies.

TTR I hope wherever you're usually flying you have ample opportunity to avoid narrowbody aircraft (let alone turboprops! :D )

Is there any particular reason you have only mentioned rows 4 and 5 and not more forward rows?

Personally I love 2A and 2K and tend to go with 2A for 2 reasons (one of which is relevant to this thread):

1. Since the seat is closer to the window (as in all of the even numbered suites) it's more private and just a nicer experience
2. Should a sub to a 737 occur (rare, but it happens) 2A will translate over just fine :)

For those wanting easier access to across the aisle, as in the case of 3 pax together then your odd numbers would probably be better (but remember with the staggered seating config of the 332's, you'd want to combine say 3A with 4D rather than 3D.

eg see the seatguru seat map:
