Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Kill two birds with one stone bf, get some sparkling shiraz.

Thanks for that.....now I have to go out and drink 52 botts to work out which is the best.
Can anyone make this as easy as possible for me. One name, one bottle please. Back in the day, I loved the peter rumball sparkling shiraz but over the years, it became a little too sweet. So to add point 3 to above, a fizzy that is a tad dry.

cheers folks, and thanks to Khussey above. take off 15 freight per se, and its a fiver a bottle isn't it. hopefully, not too shabby.

The d'Arenberg Peppermint Paddock Sparkling Chambourcin is reputedly not too sweet although a touch over your $25 PP. A bit cheaper is Bleasdale Sparkling Shiraz at $18ish.

You guys really love the fizzy stuff don't you. So do I but I am not in that price world, and judging from your experience, a normal quality champers would cost about $45. Yes, the recent CM stuff you bought was a bargain, but to be honest, and please don't laugh, but I do like the six dollar yelloglen yellow. For me, a two glass effort is ideal. I find it inoffensive and drinkable. I did buy recently from Dannys or the Fo the Pirie non vintage for about $27. All those accolades, all that regalia and I found it a bit too fizzy. I sent them a note with no reply sadly mentioning that their definition of creaminess or some such adjective is my definition of too bubbly.

Come to think of it, I need a champers now. I have just picked up a beautiful 1 year old female cat from the lort smith. My other grey 4yr old boy will have a younger sister to play with. Get that 2006 vintage moet out of my fridge...I wish !

Now, a response from you all. One answer only. Your best under $25 champers from Dannys to buy after Winx celebrates tomorrow at 5.03pm !

I do like my bubbles. Bollinger is my absolute favourite and I tend to not drink it too often so as not to ruin it.

Nothing wrong with a good sparkling; I'm quite partial to the Yellowglen Perle Rose and a nice Australian Prosecco.

Another vote for this - BC20 has converted me to this inexpensive vintage offering.

(For reference it is available for $90/6 delivered through Cellardoor.co - don't know what DM charge)

I've picked it up from VM around $66 a case before. They called me as I've bought it before. It was my favourite before I discovered champagne and is a very nice drink if you dont want something too fancy/expensive.

BEEFARMER you cant go too wrong with CHANDON BRUT $19.95 for plain and CHANDON sparkling PINOT SHIRAZ $23.80 if you want a red. Cheers

I don't know about you mate, but the only reason we have Champagne in my house is because the wife is under the impression that she likes it much better than Sparkling (and her friends all agree).

IMO Mid range champers is easily surpassed by Australian sparkling such as Arras.

Krug, Salon, Dom is a different story entirely.

What's the difference…(serious question.. why don't we drink good au sparkling instead of pretentious plonk from europe)

1st choice have Moet for $48

Different methods? I know some sparkling is made in the traditional method, but cant be called Champagne because it is local.

If anyone is looking for rose Robert Oatley are doing 12 for $75 inc shipping http://robertoatley.ecellardoor.com.au/newsletter/view/?p=23&c=5106131425111710&o=1100074278249870

Sounds like a gift (not that I'm into Rosé to be honest) and a well-chilled summer aperitif mmmmmm.....

Now you're singing my song Prozac! Really, really love a big sparkling Shiraz as my fizz of choice, true Champagne is delightful but I'd still pass it over for a glass of large Oz shiraz (or should that read 'large glass of OZ shiraz'?)

I won't say it's the "best", but for year on year consistency and value, the Seppelts Original sparkling shiraz at under $20 is the one for me. Not as sweet as the Rumball.

Which ones do you favour W&D?

Must say that I concur with roshea that the Seppelts is one of the best at that price point, I actually don't mind the Seaview Sparkling Shiraz if folks on here don't consider it too déclassé at $5.80 a bottle from DM. I tend to buy it (like a lot Aussies around Xmas time as I prefer it to white fizz) but am struggling to recall dead-set favourites, Andrew Garret in the NV another good cheapie and one that I'm still holding a few bottles of is the Ladbroke Grove Sparkling Shiraz 2005 from WBW and under crown-seal, quite bit drier than average which is probably the sugar having been gobbled up over the intervening 11 or so years and only a tenner!

Bee

you have made it tough by insisting we stick to 1, so I am going to break the rules and give you more but with solid reasons.

best on ground considering the salary cap of $25 for me is janz nv currently $19 at dans which is a very good price imo

best budget hardys sir James brut de brut - dry, cheap and enjoyable for the price $11

best mids are croser nv and grant burge Pinot/chard. Both of these you will often see on sale for around $17. In fact the den currently has the croser for $90 for 6.

in the sparkling red it is hard to go past the Seppelt original for the price. But not as fussed with their Salinger (white bubbles) bought some of the 2012 vintage Salinger recently and was very disappointed.

+1 vote for the Bleasdale sparkling shiraz, I just bought my Christmas supplies of it in the CM frenzy.

Too sweet and candy-like for me.

I'm drinking a 2009 Majella SS right now, $150/6 delivered during their regular (2-3 times a year) sale offers.

These days you have to pay $20+ and often $30+ to get a really good sparkling red.

I am drinking a 2007 Seppelt Original Sparkling Shiraz at the moment. $10 from my local Liquorland yesterday.

That is very good value. But where is your local Liquorland? Location in your profile would be helpful. We promise not to come round and bother you...unless your cellar is exceptional. :)

One jansz will be on the next danny visit. as far as the others are concerned, I will stick with my yellow.
