Virgin Lounge Food

Hadn't been in the SYD lounge for a few months but today was mildly surprised by a big stack of BACON by the pancakes. Having just returned from Canada and the US I couldn't resist getting pancakes, putting bacon on top (and not that pathetic burnt stuff they have in North America) and pouring on the 'maple' syrup. Ah! Delicious.

All the toasted sandwiches you can dream of!

And soup. Lots of soup.

I think I've only ever seen nachos/hot dogs/pies etc. around dinner time.

You'll just love it. There are so many sandwich combinations to be made.

You may get lucky and the pancake machine will still be out. If that's the case, make the biggest stack you have time for and douse it in maple syrup and berries. God, I love those pancakes.

That sounds amazing. And people complain about the lounge! We've forgotten about its proximity to Krispy Kreme all along.

Food is a strong word to describe what VA throw into their lounges.

However perhaps a glimmer of hope on the horizon, was talking to a VA HA exec a couple of weeks ago and the entire lounge food and Bev is under review. Apparently they get quite a few complaints... Who would have thought Fingers crossed!

Sounds promising. It'd be a reasonably cheap way to differentiate from QF's offering. And somewhat necessary since VA don't have J lounges.

The other day I overheard one pax complain about the lack of spirits (approx 2pm) and the server said that there were rumors that its being reviewed.

My vote is pumpkin soup at Darwin has to go - who the heck wants to eat hot winter soup when it never goes below 30c.

Just left the MEL lounge ...

At 5:30am out came scrambled eggs and bacon.

Menus indicated this would be available until 9:00am.

Certainty a surprise to me ... but I:

1) rarely travel this early &
2) don't travel very often on weekdays.

It's a daily rotation, sometimes you're lucky and you get bacon and eggs and then sometimes you get baked beans. From memory, the hot food selection sticks around until about 9, after that it's available until it runs out.

Haha this made me laugh. I'm the same with toasted sandwiches.

That's funny as I always look forward to my toasted lounge sandwich. The key is to put a bit of mayo on the ham. Just don't try it on the early flight half awake. I once ended up putting yoghurt on the toastie and it all ended in tears.

I actually liked the pumpkin soup, but maybe only because there's limited choice on what I can eat :-|
