Flying from Perth to Sydney tonight and wondering if any recent travellers can answer two questions:
(1) what time do they put away/ throw out the hot food in the Business Lounge?
(2) what meal(s) do they currently serve in J (Business) on the overnight transcon flight?
Thanks in advance.

.

They cook fresh pizza in the new PER J lounge - I think the lounge is impressive for a domestic lounge.
This said I cannot actually answer your question of when it gets put away/thrown out

The flight is often under 4hrs - most people will take no meals at all.

A snack service is offered.
There will be food available in the lounge up until boarding - eat there.

The red-eyes ex-PER offer only a supper service, in both classes. Economy gets one of those plastic bags with something like a piece of fruit, muesli bar and a muffin. They also do a drinks service. Business also gets a reduced service. Soup and arancini balls (served directly onto a serviette) are popular.

Thank you for the responses.
I just hope there is something decent to eat in the lounge.

If you like pizza you can't go wrong.
The last ones come out around 10pm IIRC.
I've never tried any of the other offerings.

Looking forward to your opinion- photos are also good ;)

Noted - I will oblige the request for photos.

I had initially booked on the 16:30 flight but I had forgotten about the 24 hour upgrade cut off so I changed the booking. Rookie mistake.

I'm interested too. Doing the same flight tomorrow night on my way to LOTFAP...

Definitely eat in the lounge. My only red eye flights have also been 'supper' flights. They bring around small canapés (arancini balls, mini-satay skewers on my two flights) then something sweet (lamington) - then switch off all the lights. One time I was still hungry so asked for the hot option which was soup. No problem but took 15 minutes so clearly they don't expect many people to eat. Fair enough. But my advice is if you do want to eat fast then sleep ask as soon as you can.

I don't think there's any breakfast offered.

Whilst not entirely relevant to the thread as this was lunch from last Friday in the lounge.

The pizza was fresh (can't beat it), but the panko-crumbed prawns were a nice surprise!

Was the orange and lavender cake as unappetizing as it sounds?

I'm wondering what is the "completely personalised dining experience" with that menu? You can either eat it or not I guess, but that's the same for any menu...

Don't you also get arrival J lounge access in SYD when coming off red-eye flights from PER?
