Vinomofo Wine Deals

It may be back - it would also be worthwhile giving them a call and ask for some - it cannot hurt to try

Yeah that's a good idea, who knows what they may have racked up out the back. I'm sure their 'hurry get in quick before you miss out' arbitrary time limited sales are why sometimes we see repeat stuff.
Then again, sometimes the stuff is just that good and it genuinely flies out the door. I think the Brothers and Sisters is probably in that category! Worth a call though.

In other news, I opened a bottle of the Hannah's Swing the other night, had a sip then on advice from AFF let it decant for a couple of hours.
I definitely noticed a marked difference between the freshly opened bottle and the decanted one, but both were good to me. I enjoy sweeter wines, and I tend to like Barossa shiraz so it definitely had the guts of what I like to drink, though I noticed it seemed to have a prominent acidity in the mid and end palette for me which was the biggest mark against it.

In all, I won't be sending mine back. I don't think it's my best mof_ purchase but it's certainly not the worst. I like it better than the Hewitson Mother Vine that was about the same price point and also well regarded earlier in this thread. I'll happily forget about it in the back of the cellar for a nice surprise in a few years.
The FG Brothers and Sisters Cab Sav I had the following night however, blew it out of the water for value and edged ahead for taste too.

I opened a FG Brothers & Sisters 3 days ago and was still going strong last night. It's so elegant, not a sharp edge to be seen. Light on the oak I thought - will it go the distance? Utterly delicious at the moment, and I guess it will go another 5 years easily.

I took a stab at the Kakaba 2013 Shiraz at $117 for the 6. Should be interesting, reads very well, but not much info out there.

I gave them a buzz this arvo and unfortunately they were sold out for real, so they've put a note on my account to ring me if it comes back.

I'll just have to console myself with some pate' and a bottle of the Lou Miranda Golden Lion shiraz instead. :)

If anyone is looking at the 2010 WA cab reserve on Vinmofo, you might look up cellartracker for 2010 Sandalford Cabernet Estate Reserve. I have been a fan over the years but have not had luck with their Cab, but have been rapt in their Shiraz!

CT score of 89 isn't great, but given there are only two reviews I'm not sure one can draw too much of a conclusion from that page.

I quite like the 2010 Sandalford reserve Cab Sauv - it was one of my first purchases on the Fo. I was very tempted to grab another 6 but I'm trying to stick to a budget..... I posted my thoughts on the nice wines thread 12+ months ago

Rumour on the street is that the Golden Lion is their $20 Leone relabelled for the Chinese market but didn't sell when the AUD depreciated, then the 2013 got dumped on the Fo. Read the description of the vines of their cheaper 'flagship' Old Vine versus the vine description of the more expensive Golden Lion. I believe the Fo were not aware of this, nor the pundit that rated it 94, goes to show where 'clever' marketing can take you.

They are in different bottle shapes.
They didn't taste the same to me.

I just cracked my second bottle tonight. Just as stunning as the first bottle. Throughly enchanting. Love it.

Wow....

I am just finishing my first brothers and sisters Cabernet now and all I can say is thank you to all who recommended it.
For a 2014 it is insanely well balanced for a Cabernet. It has the best nose of any wine this year, nothing remarkable in the mid palate but nothing offensive either. But...what length.
Amazing buy and I feel a little guilty with the price.
The winemaker deserves a little more for this one.
