I was looking at checkin cutoff times for family member who is travelling out of MEL, and was surprised that QF now have a 90 minute cut-off for international flight. I assume it may have been like this for sometime, as it's been at least 3 years since I've flown out of Australia internationally on QF. Does this also apply to those travelling in economy, using business and first class counters (SG/WP)?

I'm used to flying out of MEL on SQ or EK whose checkin counters close 40 minutes and 60 minutes before departure, 90 minutes is a lot!

It's 90 mins for check in, but 60 mins for bag drop. So if they've done OLCI then it's 60 mins really.

Ok thanks, that makes sense. I've heard very few cases of 90 min cut-offs anywhere ... I think EZE is one where airlines have longer cutoffs and a few other odd destinations here and there where security and immigration is genuinely gruelling.
