Anyone here get a real kick out of ironing clothes?

You have to be kidding ! No one enjoys ironing !!! Even with the King on CD it is still a task that HAS to be done. But I love non iron clothes. An d now all of Rons shirts are Brooks Brothers non iron-wash and wear ! My mother was horrified that I only ironed the front of Rons shirt when we were first married, I told her no one sees the back - he wears a white coat, my mother came and ironed Rons shirts whenever she could until she died at 93.

I can explain it without even reading the article...... Men do worse because they lose their "best friend" which means they then have to start doing the "cooking", "cleaning", etc. Women do better than men because they reduce their workload, so a less stressed time :D
Women tire of men more easily than the other way around. It is nature.

And also a lot more women have sent men to their death than the other way around. And yes I know that woman do not agree with my theory and that is just tough luck. ;)

We have had a pick up and deliver back ironing service in Perth which is as close to having a magic fairy as we need. We don't consider it to be too expensive for the pick up on Thursday and back on Friday. My mother in law does not get a vote so I think we have had the service for a number of years.

And in Venice I thought I would iron MrP's travel pants. How was I supposed to know the iron was dodgy and super hot even on low? Melted them. Then had to track all around Venice trying to find a needle and thread for repairs. Ever try finding such a store in Venice? Eventually went into a dressmaker and purchased some for 15 euros. And spent a couple of hours repairing the huge hole.

At home I bought an iron on patch. Two years later he still wears them on holidays. His favourites. I dont iron anything but business shirts anymore. Unfortunately I've those iron free shirts dont work with so much travel. MrP always irons them again on arrival.

Yep, the irons in hotels can be really dodgy and often have sticky muck on them (probably from people like Pushka ironing travel pants :)). When I was working my colleagues were aghast that I ironed most things. They couldn't understand that I like ironed pillowcases and tea towels. I don't fully iron sheets though do like to give them a bit of a press when they are folded. They look nicer that way! Mr LtL has shirts that require ironing, none of those new fangled wash and wear numbers here and polo tops need ironing as well.
I did have a bit of a similar issue to Pushka with the iron on a hiking shirt but luckily it only left a small melted spot which I don't think he ever noticed.
My problem in the laundry is socks - somehow I seem to lose one of a pair.

How is Simongr since he left here a while ago? He certainly kept up his resolve to break from here.

He's good Pushka :)

He is well.

I don't think he would mind me saying that his work situation has changed, so he is no longer travelling frequently for work (commute is measured in miles, not hundreds of miles). Hence AFF has lost a lot of its appeal, and other things such as family are now getting more focus.

Not a bad thing IMHO. We all go through different phases in life.

Speaking of life changes and growing up I hosted a small birthday soirée / party on Sunday to celebrate a small milestone birthday earlier this month.

I was in two minds about having a birthday party as they tend to be expensive, stressful and ultimately not enjoyable for the host. The Sunday of a public holiday weekend is a strange time for a party. A reasonable number of people couldn't make it, as it seemed to be a popular weekend for trips away. As it turned out, the numbers worked well as a smaller group, so I could get around and see everyone. A number of members of this forum were in attendance.

Overall it was a fantastic party. Good food, good drinks, and a healthy mix of different social circles. Most importantly no drama / issues / etc.

I will admit there was a bit of "bill shock" at the end, but it was a great event, and a party that most attendees will remember for years to come.

Sorry I couldn't make it mate - I trust it was a fine affair.

Before I left for China in 18th Cruiserette asked if I would leave my car for her to use - apparently shy had a full load of 'stuff' she had to take to a presentation she made in Bendigo:

Wasn't kidding was she? Compared to what she takes when we go overseas on this occasion I would say she was 'travelling light'!

With a 50% chance of this being the truth, I suspect it's right half of the time...

I see ironing as a duty to Australian taxpayers, since I received Australia Government funded training in ironing. Of course, we were taught to iron clothes that had a "special" coating on that was destroyed if ironed. So we were also destroying taxpayer funded property while using our training. But then the NCOs logic was difficult to question:
1. Un-ironed looks like a bag of excrement
2. The coating washes out after 3 washes anyway.

I learned of the benefits of ironing the bed during that same training course.
