Hi, All.

I'll be flying in J from BNE to NRT on QF in a few months and then from NRT to LHR in J on BA. Both flights are ticketed through JAL. the QF flight is ticketed as QF61. The BA flight is BA6, but ticketed as JL7081. Both flights are in booking class D. I don't have any airline status. Will I be given access to the lounge in BNE and NRT?

Your QF boarding pass should show "complimentary invitation" on it.
Your passport might need to swiped onto the reader, even if you have done OLCI, go to QF int BNE J counter and get the OPC and express path card through security.
If you do use e gate, no one collects your OPC, you DIY (drop) it into a clear lidded box.
Try the DIY outgoing immigration processing aka e gate, I love it.
Just slip your passport into the reader, no little ticket. The passport automatically slips into the reader by itself.
The camera is to the right hand side, above the passport slit where you lay your passport.
If you get a eat on Q, make it a choice.
Got offered roasted pork and rice, tasty, (I haven't checked what time QF61 departs, but if you are offered it, take it).
Also, now adays, if you use the e gate for Aust departures, your OPC (pax card) is slipped into a clear lidded box.

Yes, for which I apologise.
...but it was my first ever e gate DIY processing. Over excitedness or over eagerness to help, which drives the others angry.
I nearly walked pass the clear lidded box, and also, on the MEL - WLG I saw an older couple who still had the green OPC slipped with their BP!
I know, I know, off topic are a nono.

By class of service - yes.

Thanks. I thought it was, but in my inexperienced mind, the fact that it was ticketed by a different airline created an element of uncertainty. Thanks for clearing it up. I didn't want to assume I'd be given access and then be embarassed by being refused.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I didn't know there was such a thing as DIY outgoing immigration via the e-gate.

I'm hoping to get the option of eat on Q. QF61 departs BNE at 1045 and gets into NRT at 1900, so I'm not sure what we'll be offered. Just have to wait and see.

I'm not sure if BNE has self service departure - haven't been out through there for years. Some will let both you and me know I hope.

With very few exceptions, international business class always comes with lounge access. If you are unsure which lounge to use, ask at check-in, they'll direct you to the airline's preferred lounge for that airport.

Have you looked into the lounge available in NRT? Only ask because I had the feeling I missed the better lounges during my one visit there.

It did last weekend. But I'm not sure if the express lane uses E-gates.

I would say it's bemusement not anger. I always assume that when people ask about lounges they probably have the other aspects of travel covered. BTW there were people proactively collecting the outwards card last Saturday evening in BNE. No box required.
