First F flights booked....

Yes I was truly impressed - when the crews realised I was doing SYD-AKL-BNE on the same day purely for the Emirates F experience they didn't hold back....

I know it's not F, but when I can't seem to get a PDB (everyone around me was offered champagne) eventually given one after pressing the call button only to have it taken off me 45 seconds later as they were clearing the glasses for takeoff, wasn't offered a drink with the meal, ect. on a J ticket. It's pretty disappointing. Whereas on the return my glass was never empty, lovely greeting from the cabin manager who did me a favour, couldn't fault them at all.

All that on short Trans Tasman flight?
Impressive!

All I got from my FA was "flight very short, only 3 hours but if you want to do shower, ok" in the not most friendly Russian accent.

Looks like EK can be inconsistent as well, they must caught the bug from QF :)

I agree, I had to ask, and was told 'maybe'. When I returned, no amenity kit and no pj's.

re kits and PJ's - I expect they don't board them for the TT flights because it isn't part of the service for those short sectors, so if they have any on board they are likely strays from the previous sectors ex-DXB so the "maybe" is possibly quite plausable.

However it's just another example of how EK can be so inconsistent - and it's a pity in premium cabins specially

I wonder if, perhaps, EK crews perhaps are resting on their laurels a bit in recent times (along with a bit of cost cutting) - I mean they really have worked hard as they expanded to give you the service to befit all the bling and to be outstanding. Now they're big and bloated and there may be a bit of complacency there.

Carriers like EY are still expanding wildly, have a new product range (Studio, Apartments and of course Residence) to show off. QR has a bit too and Al Baker is notorious for being an absolute stickler for service standards. EK.. I dunno. Certainly not as good as they were a few years back.

I also wonder how the new DXB-AKL nonstop service starding in March will affect these TT flights in the short and medium term.

Just realised on this trip SYD>DFW>MSY and back, all four legs have been in 4A!

Re TomV's comment about drink removal on/for takeoff safety, yes they remove, and it does not come back.
Best to down it quick fast, not sip and taste it.
Same for OJ or water prior to takeoff.

Bit hard if you only have it for 45secs...

Standard on every single airline I've ever flown.

As pointed out earlier it's easy enough to ask for a new glass once in the air.

Should have downed it

Obviously and that was a poor effort there. I don't know why they would have done that :(

Because after repeatedly serving everyone around me I had to eventually press the call button and request a glass, which eventually showed up just before it was time for them to (quite rightly) clear the cabin. I wasn't offered a wine list on that flight either, and was only offered juice with my meal. Easily the worst J service I've had, keeping in mind a rather small sample size. AA crews would have been miles ahead.

You don't look like a 12 year old do you?
:D

Just put on hold my first F flights - choosing between QF 9 (Mel - LHR) and QF 2 (Dxb - Syd). Both are on hold at the moment. Thanks QF for releasing some more seats in May! One very happy girl here. :)

Edit: just realised this is a thread about flying on EK, not QF.

.... only BNE-AKL-BNE, booked with QFF points and as part of a trip to RAR.

It might only be 3 hours each way, but Mrs_O and I are pretty chuffed. The taxes/fines were the same as J and I had plenty of points so went for the F option. It will probably be the one and only time (x2 flights) :D:D:D.

Well, one half is flown. We had the whole F cabin to ourselves. Master_O even got his own suite for his morning nap, lol.

The DP flowed aplenty and the cabin staff, with very little to do, were very helpful. We were given amenity kits too. The shower will be tried out on the return leg, although we both used the shower bathroom... I've never seen an on board toilet like it!!

Return leg was yesterday evening. What a change.... F cabin almost full. The lad had had a nap in the airport so was good for the flight. We both had showers. Sadly, the Rose DP and canapes are no longer offered, but the remainder of the meal service was rather good.

I went down the back to the bar with Master_O and everyone there was very friendly, if not slightly well oiled :).

All in all, worth the extra points and a nice way to start and finish the holiday.
