Inbound 3U601 from little known in Australia CTU to MEL was due at 1310 hours today but is now arriving at 2025. Returning 3U602 has been delayed from 2110 to a forecast 2215 hours.

A little suprising given it's well known in China at least for its spicy food, hot weather and pandas. I suspect the market for Australian tourists to China is still heavily biased to Beijing and Shanghai. Over time, I suspect more non Chinese background Australians will learn about other great places in China to visit.

That said, there already are plenty of cities the size of Melbourne or Sydney in China that very few people in Australia would have ever heard of. India is probably similar. It's still a big world out there.

On Thursday 29 December, 3U601, the 0155 hours CTU - MEL took off very promptly at 0209 hours. However A332 B-8468 will not arrive MEL until about 1558 this afternoon, 38 minutes late.

The previous post was premature as MEL experienced almost 50 millmetres of rain in an hour and a half around 1500 hours on Thursday 29 December.

Accordingly 3U601 diverted to ADL, and should arrive in MEL at about 2000 this evening. Aircraft is A332 B-8468 that at 1930 hours was in a holding pattern above Rupanyup, Victoria.
