Medhead. A seasoned AFF member like yourself I find it hard to believe you hadn't signed up already and still haven't! Ill bid! I hope to have 17,000 plus posts on here one day and have the knowledge that that many posts must have on board. Despite posting some time ago some info I thought prospective applicants might find helpful, I have yet to get a referral from on here. Id be very happy to have yours!

I really don't know if I want to apply for another card. I've gone after the hard to get Jetstar card, especially since last time I cancelled that card they told me they might reject any future application.

Thanks Medhead, very good of you. I would be delighted if your work colleague signed up. Are you running a 'competitive evaluation process' for you to use a link? No way to split the referral points as far as I know but open to suggestions. Did I give you one of the drinks vouchers at Sydney Trivia Night when I fluked the Colonel Sanders 'Who Am I'? If so, does this give me a head start? :)

Definitely not asking for a points split. More hoping to turn it around to help me pick a referral link to use. The Buzz offer was more like it. Especially if the drinks are shouted in a lounge somewhere. ;)

I am not sure if this offer is in jest or not, but I would like to remind everyone of the Referral T&Cs that state:

[/mod hat]

Just as my post wasn't a request for a kick back, I didn't read SydneySwan's post as a monetary (or other) inducement either. Especially as he already gave me the drinks voucher months before this offer came out. ;)

Basically, lots and lots of referral links from deserving people, I'm sure. Makes it hard to decide which to use.

Hi guys,

I am also one of the people that held an existing Platinum Edge card when I applied and still received the 110k bonus points. If you are wondering - I did indicate to Amex when I applied that I held the Plat Edge card and provided the details of theEdge card so the Edge and Velocity Platinum cards are linked to the same logon for the website.

I applied using Deka's referral (you should check to see if you got the points in your account). If anyone else could return the favour, it would be really appreciated.

Click here for my referral link.

I hope you all make the most of it as this is a fantastic deal.

I've always wondered what would happen if someone held a current Amex card but didn't disclose this on their application. Would they be declined for not being truthful on the application?

I am not sure and would be interested to hear of other peoples experiences where they applied but did not disclose that they held an existing card.

Has anyone else also had any issues with getting the bonus points when they held a card in the previous 12 months, but not a current one?

I am not sure but I am under the impression that PERTH-east coast is only available to people based in Perth (people based in east coast can go west as far as Adelaide, but not Perth).

Has any east coast person tried to book PER-eastcoast return flights. Want to see if I can book for a friend who is based in perth to come down to MEL.

I think majority of people with existing cards, have gotten their points posted, but there are a few who have not gotten the bonus points. I have yet to have my application approved but am existing cardholder, fingers crossed that I get my points.

Has anyone had issues with the referral bonus being delayed?

Yes, I had a friend apply a day or two after I activated my own card, approved 31 Aug. The referral must have worked, because at activation they told him he was going to get 110k. I still haven't seen my 20k though. :-|

I emailed Amex today regarding the application that Jnr#1 was approved for using my link. Jnr received the 110,000 bonus points on the 28th August, but I have not received the referral points. I received a reply from Amex this evening asking for Jnr's name, last 5 digits of the card and the suburb and postcode where Jnr lives, which is actually my address too.

Hopefully, I will have a positive response tomorrow.

I got my friend to apply today using my missus' link and instant approval. Sent my application in few weeks ago and still waiting for approval as it required I.D proof to be sent it :( Told him to apply as he needs to fly from PER-MEL during grandfinal weekend for a wedding and all flights are double the normal cost, roughly 1k return. Wonder if Virgin will give him his free return flights during grand final weekend.

So I applied for my velocity Amex on the 2nd using formal halls referral and received my card yesterday (7th). Mighty efficient turnaround! Would love to know if points have posted for him if he's reading this.

As a great welcome, I noticed my card came with complimentary target and woollies offers. Spend $30, get back $15. That'll be an easy recoup of $30!
i also received $20 or $30 offers for Telstra and Optus direct debit, but I won't be using those..

Anyhow, as is customary, here is my referral link should someone be kind enough to pass on the love.. :)

So without further ado, here is my referral link with a limited print edition of 10 available :) If you value my contributions to this forum then please consider using my referral link.

Thanks robd, it would be great to keep us updated. I'm waiting on 2 and another that has been referred so if there's a tested process of just emailing them that would be great!

Wonder if Amex are being lazy on purpose? I guess if they only paid the bonus points to the applicant, in many cases the referee would be none the wiser that their referral had even been used. Certainly for a lot of the posts on this forum.
hmmmm?... :)

I'm waiting on around 200k so waiting to hear the outcome. Though I think the t&cs said it will be 6 to 8 weeks before the points arrive.

A follow up email received from Amex today - they "have immediately escalated this to our Marketing team to check the status of bonus points..." "They will diligently look in to this and issue the points accordingly". "...Please allow me 5 to 7 business days to get back to you with an update..."

Stay tuned.

I emailed Amex about a couple of bonuses which also didn't post to my account. They claim they didn't apply through my link but I know they did because I sat there and helped them do it!

I got a response the same as yours saying they will escalate it to their marketing team.

2 days later I got their response; in summary, they are douchebags.

Dear Mr. aaronjames000,

I am emailing you regarding the referral bonus points.

Our Marketing Team advised that they will not be able to honour the referral bonus points. We regret the inconvenience this may cause.

For assistance in any other way, please let us know.

Sincerely,

I am amazed that no reason was offered. Is it against the law to advertise and make such an offer but then refuse to honor it when the person has met all requirements? If it isn't, what's stopping me or any other business out there from offering millions of points to buy my products and services and then just refuse to honor it?

I'd suggest asking them to provide you with a reason why you should not refer this to be investigated by the Department of Fair Trading or Ombudsman.
