I'd be very curious to know how long it takes for the points to land in the referrer's account. Do let us know how long it takes for you. :)

My first 2 referrals came within 24 hours, my next two were done Thursday week ago and yesterday, neither of those have posted yet.

Maybe they have just changed their timing on when the referral points post? Hoping so anyhow.

Has anyone had issues with the referral bonus being delayed?

I had a friend use my referral last Thursday and was instantly approved but points still haven't shown. When others used my referral they points posted the same day as they were approved. It's reasonable for them to take a 1+ weeks but after the last ones posted that day I got nervous they've somehow missed this one?
A work colleague used my link last week and was accepted. No points yet. But when my husband used my link, the points came in the same day he applied. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it. Maybe it is the sheer volume of applications that is slowing things down.

Here's my link one last time (if there is anyone left in Australia who doesn't have this card yet :)) https://www316.americanexpress.com/...merHub&MGMURN=AAAABgQTABEfAw==&CPID=999999484

I forwarded yours to someone at work the other day who asked me about points and status. They said something about signing up for some other virgin card. I replied "are you stupid use this link" or words to that effect.

I'm still waiting to hear the bids for me to use someone's link. ;)

I'll buy you a drink or two at an event and keep you entertained

So just curious here... has anyone had any referral points drop into AMEX since the 22nd (Saturday just gone)?

psi999. Just wondering if you or anyone have anymore information on this? My last referral point post was on the 21st. I am waiting on one from a family member and they are now waiting on one as well.

I did call Amex on Friday and was advised that the bonus points can take up to 6-8 weeks to post (even though my other ones were within 24 hours). She suggested that the 6-8 weeks was a maximum and that I should expect the other ones well before that but didn't provide any further guidance on when that would be.

Thanks Medhead, very good of you. I would be delighted if your work colleague signed up. Are you running a 'competitive evaluation process' for you to use a link? No way to split the referral points as far as I know but open to suggestions. Did I give you one of the drinks vouchers at Sydney Trivia Night when I fluked the Colonel Sanders 'Who Am I'? If so, does this give me a head start? :)

I am not sure if this offer is in jest or not, but I would like to remind everyone of the Referral T&Cs that state:

Cash (or any other incentive) designed to encourage a member for taking your referral is not permitted.

This thread has been used extensively at work and amongst our friends and their friends and their friends........ I already had this card for about 5 years. A very generous offer so don't just sit there waiting for Godot....it finishes on 30th September.

Putting out another referral out there. If anyone would be so kind, I'd be most appreciative :)

just a few tips to take note of:

Post bill pay takes Paypal (which takes Amex) so as long as you've got a 4 digit payer code and reference number you're good to go.
BP are giving 2 points per litre (not per $)
e-rewards are giving 750 Velocity points on signup
bookarestaurant.com is giving 300 Velocity points per booking
The Velocity eStore has plenty of retailers giving 2 points per $
Lumo Energy is giving 6 points per $

Given that Paypal is accepted in so many places now, its a perfect excuse to do some extra online shopping. :)

Not sure if it had been confirmed or not BUT Perth to ADELAIDE/SYDNEY is an allowed route for the free flight. Return flight. I have redeemed Perth to Sydney return last week :)

My referral link for those who need one still...

I am not sure but I am under the impression that PERTH-east coast is only available to people based in Perth (people based in east coast can go west as far as Adelaide, but not Perth).

Sorry i missed this. Nothing since the 22nd on the couple of cards i'm running.... I'm waiting on about 5 referrals to post.

Interestingly a friend received a card last week and straight away generated a referral link and referred his wife - points came through that night.... First i've heard of any points being posted since 22nd.

He has since gone on and referred others and hasn't had any turn up, he called AMEX to query and was notified that they could see the referrals in the system but had not yet been approved. He was then asked if he wished to esculate to 'marketing' which he didnt worry about.

No logic in receiving that one referral though.

I have found that when anything has been referred to 'marketing' which they readily do , the response can take AGES.

I have been wondering about the change in processing. I had another look at the referral t and c's the other day. I am sure I had had a look at them previously but i did note this time about a warning of spamming referrals. "you must only send referrals to close friends and family". Me thinks that Amex may be starting to look more closely at referral methods. I googled problems with referral points posting and there was some internet discussion about the need to provide proof of relationship for referrals. The referral points myself and my family are waiting on are genuine, so hoping there are no issues here. Maybe the wife being at the same address as the referrer expedited that one. Although my brother in law is waiting on referral points after referring his wife.

To add to this though. I do find it slightly contradicting that they actually encourage you to use "Facebook" and "linked in" as means to put your referral out into the public domain.

That's what I just about to say too.

Its same thing as them saying they won't pay points to people with existing Amex CC, yet they do. So T&C's are only there for legal reasons possibly?

It's taking a while for the referral bonus points to arrive :( I know the T&Cs says 6-8 weeks but my hands are itchy and I want the damn points ... ASAP ;) :D :)
